Concerning the improvement of already trained units

Concerning the improvement of already trained units

Hello everyone,

So I've got this little idea in my head for a while now, and I think nobody created a specific thread for it, that concerns the troops that you can train.

Cooperation, Logistics and company, if I'm not mistaking let you increase the size of your regiments. In a similar manner, mounted warfare and the warg technology make you be able to train mounted troops.

Now what I would LOVE to be implemented is a way to upgrade the size of an already trained unit and to provide them with mounts if the appropriate technology is researched. These upgrades would of course cost money, just like armor/weapon upgrades.

This will allow to bring some of the earlier units that do well in combat into the late game, without having to disband them or leave them sleeping in a city that the AI will probably never attack anyway.

Thank you for your attention!

I don't guess it, what any diffent when I don't build troop very much until I max out reseached tree then I build troop most of time so I dont' had to worry about disband troop when they are out of date and waste of time training them a xp?

There's nothing wrong with that, but by putting off building those units until later, the AI has a chance to run you over when you don't have unit for defense. You're basically forced to make due with less so that you don't waste resources, which is fine, if you can manage it. But you can't keep those couple of unit from the beginning of the game that would have gained astronomical amounts of exp and becoming invincible due to their level. If you wait all the way until you max the research tree, those 7 guys won't be very high level and can be countered by similar troops.

Not if your sovgan level up and gain troop from quest, that you don't need to worry about it...it's might truth 2 player map but 8 player map, a.i fighting other, gave me more time to get reseached...only you need to train troop ahead if you aware a.i do not like you very much....

Well I am a noob at modding, couldn't find the file to put the new lines in. Oh well... I hope this gets enough visibility so Stardock gets to see it and work on it, maybe for 1.1

In Expert-Ridiculous, I usually have to cope with 1-2 angry AI (when it's not all of them). They usually send 2x6 units of spearmen(3) early if they go at war with you (before turn 60), but that's ok, big guns only come around turn 200 when you have to deal with barons&cavalry(5) and heroes in full enchanted blunt armors wielding boreal blades with 96 hp and path of the assassin, while you desperatly trying to hit the archery tech...

So yeah having a couple of the surviving units from midgame make it into the late game would be great.

yeah i hate how my troops are always marching toward being obsolete and i can never upgrade them once built.  Oh the irony the unit that is not yet, is better than the unit that is. (world of being vs world of becoming?)

Because i can upgrade weapons and armors, i should also be able to upgrade troop size.
