Thanks!

Ok i've been on this forum for about a week now, everyday (yeah i get bored a work, web dev isn't all that exciting at times). Now let me say that back on oct. 9th i bought a game (pre ordered actually) called XCOM:Enemy Unknown. Loved it, went to the forums. Now i haven't been a huge game forum guy my whole gaming life and wasn't sure what to expect. But i wasn't expecting that, it was a complete bash fest. Out of the hundreds of posts there is only one every once in a great while that would be constructive and one that was just wishful thinking and the other 98 posts were somebody saying this sucks that sucks and if you disagreed with him then you sucked. very childish player base, never have i seen such a collection of asshats congregating in one place before. Although a great game.

Now i buy fallen enchantress and totally love this game ([insert your deity] must be smiling on me) so i think to myself, I'm bored so lets check out the whiners on the Fallen Enchantress forum (since my expectations have been set on game forums now), to my surprise i've been coming here everyday for the entire week and haven't really seen a single flamer, whiner, brat, hell child, asshat or anybody complaining about spilled milk. Nearly every post is either constructive, instructive or just a good read.

So i'm not ONLY thanking stardock for creating a great game, i want to thank everybody for not being that asshat that feels they have to rage every other player in order to feel better about themselves. So thanks stardock and thank you FE community!

I too am amazed at the positive attitude on this forum.  I'm surprised, in fact, given the rancor the original WoM generated, and (IMHO) the occasional shortcomings of FE.  Where are all the haters?

The XCOM forum is, as you say, just amazingly negative.  I've never seen a forum more degenerate and full of bile, fighting over the same ground over and over again.  It's like it's own circle of hell.  It's such a pleasure being in the FE forum and actually having an adult conversation, and one where the devs actually participate constructively.  Very impressed, Stardock and Stardock community.

Cleary you didn't read all topic, I spot here and there, but it's normal... there is a flamer, whiner, brat, hell child, asshat or anybody complaining in forum, though not lot like talesworld and some other forum...

The stardock forums are really something special.  There was some forum bullshit when WoM was released, but it was a bad game and it still wasn't anything compared to what some good games get on their forums, like XCom, Fallout3, or CivV.  We forum posters in general tend to be easily upset and sent into hyperbole filled rages at every little issue.  It sickens me to the point I can't handle most forums and have been kicked off because I have a bad habit of telling idiot posters to go fuck themselves.

I can hardly believe you can say that Xia.  I have never known you to speak so abruptly.

The community is what has kept me coming back to SD since I bought WoM two years ago.

Posting here is worthwhile.  Stardock employees (like the President of the company and the lead designer) frequently comment on these forums.  And ideas we discuss regularly make their way into the game.  That is huge in improving our legit poster to troll ratio.

People invested in a game tend away from asshatishness b/c it's a long term bad idea - and with a game like FE and a company like Stardock, it's easy to be invested long term.
