Fallen Enchantress at NexusMods

Hi all,

I contacted Robin at blacktreegaming  (they manage the nexus mods sites).   I asked if they were interested in a Fallen Enchantress site.   He e-mailed me back and said he was downloading the game and trying it out and that he was going to talk to Frogboy about it.   I don't know what will happen but maybe this will be an option for us.

edit:  FE is now on nexus mods - check it out at http://fallenenchantress.nexusmods.com/

I really don't care whichever you guys decide, I'll put my mods where the community wants them to be. It would have been nice to have that in-game overlay, but Stardock doesn't exactly have a good record about keeping vague promises to modders (the opposite, in fact).

I have been modding games for over 30 years, I have a long long list of games I have modded including The Elder Scrolls series and the worst experience of my modding life was when I uploaded to nexus. Nexus is rotten from the owner down to the players that use that site if your modder.

Use it and you will learn this for your self eventually.

why not steam?

Far from everyone uses steam. The point is to make it easy to access.

Hi guys,

I've spoken with Frogboy and he's more than happy for me to explore making a FE Nexus, which is a great news. I'm currently going through my first play-through of the game. I want to make sure I get some good experience in the game, and try out a few mods so I can work out how the system works and what, if anything, the community needs above and beyond what the Nexus sites already offer.

If any of you have any tips or suggestions feel free to air them.

Great news.    Make sure you try out a few of the larger mods that are out there.   We generally have a few different types of mods.   Mods that change core files/ mods that add to the core game but leave core files alone / Utilities or tools to generate files.

Mods come in xml and graphic files primarily.

The real key is people want to be able to upload their mods quickly / see how many people use it / update it without a hassle or long wait.

Nexus works great for my Fallout modding needs. I would be happy to use it.

Haha, Giskard, do you have some kind of program that auto informs you when someone is talking about the Nexus so you can come and make bad comments about it>> hahaha. Giskard is too funny. I know Giskard for many years so some of you might not know why I am saying this.

I love the Nexus, yes, there is spamming of idiots leaving negative comments on works in progress or disagreeing with a mods very existence and it can get a little rude. They do ban people though, so there's that :)

It's my go to site for checking for mods, though of course, I look in the modding forum here. I did make the odd clothing based mod back in the day, but I haven't modded since Morrowind.

Nexus is a great, high profile site, so I think it would be a good choice for hosting FE mods.

It's not perfect, it occasionally has traffic problems and a few of the bans have been questionable, but it's generally more supportive of modders than many sites, especially corporate sites.

Nexus has been great for my fallout3/NV/etc mods.   I really like the idea of a central site (although i was under the impression the wincustomize one was it).

Mods = fantastic in terms of expanding a games potential and longevity.

Wincustomize can be it, but we are experiencing a lag of days for approval of mods right now.  That just doesn't work for most people.  We are looking at alternatives.

I have tried numerous times to register at nexusmods, but I never recieve the activation e-mail that is required. I have no idea what I have done wrong, and being left outside in the cold, nexus feels like some closed fraternity or dark brotherhood that consider me unwrothy or at least unwanted.

So, Heavenfall dislike Steam as many are not members, I dislike nexusmods.com - by prejudice.

On the other hand, FE deserves to be named among (even better) games like games like Skyrim, Dragon Age and Fallout. I really would not mind a FE mod crawling with darkspawn fought off by vault-dwellers absorbing the souls of dragons they kill.

Sorry about that, we send out about 7,000 new registration emails a day (on top of all the usual notification emails from the forums and what not that people subscribe to) so sometimes email providers think we're spammers. We get odd situations where some people on GMail, AOL or Yahoo Mail will get our emails fine while others on the same providers won't. Don't ask me why. Either way, if you make a new account then PM me your username I can validate it for you. We need to be quick though, as after 24 hours of invalidation accounts are automatically deleted.

The FE Nexus site is up and I've PM'd the mod authors I can find about it (if you haven't got a PM, sorry, it's not out of spite!). Hopefully we can get a few mods up on the site before I put it live and publicise it to the 4.7 million Nexus members. If you're a mod author and want to get your mods up then let me know and I'll send you the link. Though, to be fair, the address is hardly a state secret and if you have any powers of deduction you'll be able to work it out ;)

I rather using Nexus over steam any day, Nexus was easier to download while steam only download that you had a game installed by steam...but again I had no problem download from dropbox from this website...steam is far, far away from "easy to access" it's limited and only access game installed by steam only...so Nexus and dropbox is easy to access and download from there...

I've uploaded Oblivion mods to Nexus, with success.  Expansion of the site has been over-ambitious, in my opinion, and I've been displeased with a loss of d/l speed from servers for paid members.  But the site loads quickly, the operation is managed well, and if the moderators aren't always polite, I've yet to see them take action in a high-handed fashion.  And I've been involved in the forums on and off for several years.

Of course, I can't speak to anybody else's experience.  My main concern would be that FE simply gets swallowed up in the place.  But then, Steam is far worse in that respect.

I'll send you the link in a PM :)

Thanks guys. I've tried to add categories based on the types of mods I've seen. If you have any further recommendations let me know and I'll put them up for you.

I'm uploading to nexus as well.  I don't believe the site is public yet, but will be soon.  They are trying to populate it with some mods before making it public.

NexusDark0ne, the download link doesn't yet work for free accounts (which probably is intentional, just wanted to let you know in case it's a hickup).

I really like the Nexus (had great experiences Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout) and I hope that the Nexus Mod Manager tool will be usable for FE eventually, too (since it's as easy as moving files in and out of the /mods/ directory, mostly).

I'm only seeing premium download links on my uploads, no non-premium. What's up with that?

Yes, not many people are rich in this world...
