[1.01 PERFORMANCE] Weird perfromance issue with Win XP

Last week I installed the 1.01 patch and to my surprise I now have a weird performance issue (I run Windows XP): every time I hit the turn button at the end of turn 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. I get totally unacceptable wait times between turns.

Just to give you a couple of examples I clocked the time from when I hit the turn button to when the cursor is transformed back from hourglass to sword:

1. Resoln (with custom sovereign):

turn 5: 4:25

turn 10: 4:10

turn 15: 3:40

turn 20: 8:10

turn 25: 6:20

turn 30: 3:35

turn 35: 5:22

2. Altar (Lord Relias)

turn 5: 2:45

turn 10: 2:43

turn 15: 5:27

turn 20: 8:22

The lag between the other turns is not an issue (10 to 30 seconds, which is Ok given that I'm playing on a really old system (AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.00 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM). It's just the turns that are multiples of 5.

I've played extensively with the late betas and with 1.0 and I never this issued before.

So I have two questions: can this issue be resolved and (much more interestingly) what the hell is the the computer doing at the end of every fifth turn???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

Is Autosave on?

Sounds like autosave.

edit: Guess Parrotmath beat me to it. By a lot. lol, that's what I get for opening multiple threads at once.

You were right! Thanks.

So I turned off auto-save and the long wait times between those turns are gone. But I still think it's weird because if I manually hit "save" it only takes a couple of seconds to do so. The reason it takes all that time in auto-save mod still puzzles me. Maybe the Devs can look into this....

Part of that may be the renaming of the last autosave to Previous_autosave, and then the generation of the new autosave. So you may have a little operating system lag built in with the autosave due to that.

Thanks Leo.

But still this is auto-save lag is a new "feature" introduced with 1.01. With 1.0 I had no such issue...
