Can anyone tell me why, when I put my newly recruited hero on the tile with my army, it shows as army 1 and army 2? They won't combine for some reason. Is there a limit to heroes in one army? Thanks
yes there is a limit of between 4 and nine units per army depending upon having researched various of the techs. one of the researches is in the military, and the rest are in the civilian tree.

As stated before, there is a limit for units or heroes (it doesn't matter) in each army. At the beggining you can have a max of 4, then you have to research technologies that give you +1 army size. Drills give you only that, while other techs give more things apart from +1 army size
