One of my champions was placed in the bottom left corner of the battlefield, surrounded by mountains and unable to move or participate in the battle. I saved a screenshot but am not sure how to include it on this post.
The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I was playing a game as Kraxis, and I had unlocked all 9 spots in my army. When I entered a battle my sovereign was stuck in the bottom left corner of the battlefield. He was unable to move or attack, but he could cast spells. This happened two times in a row on the same battlefield, and I would venture to guess that it has something to do with there not being enough available spots for the sovereign to spawn on.

I recommend posting screenshots whenever you see this bug, my guess is its a starting location gone wrong in the combat maps.
The screenshots will help identify all the bugged maps

This happens to me in the scenario. If I have more than 9 units, a couple of units are usually placed in exactly the same spot as in Tredje's screenshot. These units are unable to move but are able to cast spells.
Amazing right about Kraxis picture... took me awhile to find it. Like playing where's waldo. It is the fact that there are not enough positions...
