I purchased War of Magic a while ago

so, why don't I qualify for Fallen Enchantress?

When I see the link that I may qualify for FE, I'm excited and logging into to my gamestop account that I haven't used in some time to get FE. I say GS, because that was what my account was migrated to after logging into Stardock Central. So, Elemental: War of Magic was installed, but wasn't upgraded to FE. Why not? I had purchased Elemental a while back, and it buggy enough that I gave up playing it. Lately, I've heard that FE has resolved many issues. I'd like to get back into a game that I had looked forward to playing a year ago. Can someone from Stardock help me out?

GameStop is not involved in any way; the free or discounted offer on FE is directly from us. We still have your account--it was only copied with the Impulse sale, not transferred.

If you bought/registered Elemental in 2010, FE should already be waiting for you on the Stardock downloads site. If you bought after that, you may be eligible for the discount depending on just when it was; you can check on that here.

You can get FE just by signing in to Stardock's downloader but you may not want to bother yet, the game is still really boring to play the main difference now is the way cities work is far more streamlined and in many ways better, but all the factions are still shallow and lifeless, they all still look identical to other kingdoms or empires, the Diplomacy is still completely hollow, the AI still builds in places that doesn't make sense and does things that don't make sense (like suiciding) and pioneer rushes forcing you to do the same or lose all the land you could settle. And the magic in this game is still boring as hell with practically no interesting global spells, a few really over powered combat spells, and a lot of useless spells. At least there are some good enchantments, that go well with a completely overpowered create-a-wizard item.

Hopefully now that it's a relatively stable game mechanically, minus a few AI issues, they'll focus on making it an interesting game to play.

I really think that the person wanting to try the game they already have for free to make that determinantion themselves. As I don't agree with your opinion on the matter. If they have to purchase the game then your statement is more appropriate, but I wouldn't agree with your assessment.

A few nights ago I had installed Stardock Central and had downloaded the first Elemental. Currently, there's only Sins of a Solar Empire - Trinity, available for download. When clicking on the second link that you've provided I see that I can purchase FE for $40. So, I guess there's no discount for me?

Can you stop being butthurt for a minute, really? Trying to dissuade people from the game makes you seem like a petulant little kid who didn't get his way and is crying. Please stop being so immature.

It's likely in that case that you purchased the original game too late, yes. You can check with [email protected] to confirm if you like though.

You call this butthurt?

I'm thanking the man for a good, if negative, summation of the game.  I was one of the people who were thoroughly and completely dishearted by Elemental.  I'd pre-bought the limited ed, just on the strength of Gal Civ and Gal Civ 2.  I love, and still occasionally play MoO, MoO2, and MoM.  I wanted nothing more than El to be to MoM as Gal Civ was to MoO.  But it was unbearable.  I stuck through several patches, kept trying to even like the game.  But, like MoO3, I was thoroughly disappointed.

I came back, to see if it had changed enough.  I _still_ want El and this FE, to be the game I want to play.  But I'm not going to try it out again until it's ready.  Until I believe I'm going to like it, and enjoy it.  And based on Valentine's post, it sounds like I need to wait.

Frankly, replying with "you sound like a petulent child..  stop being so immature" is what sounded childish to me.  You give nothing to rebut him, no meat for me to think differently about.  Just whined he was being mean, and should shut up.

You don't understand though, he has journeyed these forums insulting and attacking anyone who has differed from his opinion. It grows annoying when someone is just here to spread his negative attitude and prejudices about the game. So if you value his opinion so be it, but this game isn't and never will be MoM just as GalCiv isn't and never was MoO. If you are looking for a game that blends RPG and 4x strategy in a great way, then this is the game. It isn't without it's bugs and flaws but nothing that is game breaking. You can check out the many reviews of people around these forums. There has only been two negative reviews that I have seen, the rest have been overwhelmingly positive - but if you're looking for MoM with better graphics then you may be waiting forever. Chances are it is never going to happen, and if someone takes up the IP and tries to do it it will be like what Fraxis just tried to do with XCOM. You're going to have a lot of people sorely disappointed because you didn't just update the graphics and kept the same mechanics.
