While it's rare they're almost perfectly level like that, they get close enough to be annoying more times than we'd like. 
Lol, I wonder if you can fire from 1 gravity well into the other...
I've had(in trinity) 2 planets right on top of eachother... and i mean on top, like the number 8

When my scout phase jumped from the ice planet to the asteroid, he went to the edge of the gravity well, FACED THE ICE, and then jumped to the asteroid, thus ending up physically closer to the ice planet. It was quite amusing!
yet another reason 7DS changed the scale on maps... overlapping planets -pretty, but pretty impossible at times.
