[1.01] Highlight on build menu SCREWS UP THE GAME

There is STILL a MAJOR MAJOR problem with that stupid buld menu. The top item on the menu is highlighted when you enter the window and if you click on the screen it FRICKING autobuilds the building. I have MANUAL PLACEMENT on!!! It should NEVER auto-place. As is, it autoplaced RIGHT on top of my forest and destroyed it, LOSING the ability to build my lumbermill.

Now, if SNAKING were possible, this wouldn't be a problem at all as you can just EXTEND you city and build a lumbermill in a different location, but since the excellant snaking feature has been removed from the game, I must beg that this be addressed.

This is my #1 annoyance with this game....problem existed since 0.951 and has NEVER been addressed.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix.

Thanks.

I believe you can snake to another forest tile, if you have one available, and still build the logging camp as long as the original city tile was adjacent to a forest.

I do agree with your complaint though, accidental placement of the top building is very common and very annoying.

Absolutely agree. That is a major annoyance.

Actually, you can.  Your city had a forest nearby on turn one, I assume, which means that you can build a logging camp on any forest tile you reach by snaking.

But yes, it is a real PITA.

Nope... once you remove that the forest next to your city hub, you cannot snake to another forest. I've tried. But as long as that forest is available to build on you can build on any forest you snake to.

How do you manually place buildings? I tried for a while, but couldn't figure it out.

Go to your options under advanced options select manual improvement placement.

really annoying, i agree. this makes manual improvement placement un-fun to have on.

the solution seems fairly simple, don't automatically highlight any construction option until we've clicked on at least one of them

I think it needs to be stricter than that. I often highlight something to see the benefits, then decide to check something else first; clicking anywhere outside the build menu in an attempt to dismiss it places the highlighted building.

The building should be placed only in the following situations:

  • Double-click a building in the list
  • Click a building, then click the "build" button
  • Click a building, then click a valid buildable tile (when manual placement is on)
