[REQ] Adjustable Environment Bonuses and Penalties

By default the Environment inflicts various bonuses and penalties.

I find EMPIRES DARK and KINGDOMS GOOD GRASS to be fawking BORING and would really like to Have a Desert Empire with Envrionemt Bonuses in Desert or a Arctic Kingdom with Environment Bonuses in the Ice.

I don't know why this isn't in the vanilla game, or why Stardock won't even consider putting anything like this in, but is there some way to add Environment Types with the appropriate bonuses and penalties to the Create a Kingdom menu?

Unfortunately, the "environment" as it is called in the XML is hardcoded to 3 different types. Each tile basically has a terrain-type ("plains", "forest" etc) and that in turn can have an environment (nothing, empire, kingdom). Environment is what is spread inside your zone of control, the terrain never changes.

The other possibility is using terrain as the modifying agent, for example you could have a faction that always gains +3 attack when fighting in forests (no matter if they are inside your zone of control or not). The reason this is difficult to implement is 1) the AI won't be able to take advantage of it and 2) it includes changing all the terrain out from all the tactical maps.

What is it called? What is the "terrain" that spreads out from Kingdom cities within your borders called? What is the "terrain" that spreads out from Empire cities called?

Because that's what I'm talking about. Before Stardock decided top Punish modders for modifying it, there were mods to change the "terrain" whatever the hell it's called so that it wasn't two flavors of freaking BORING.

Now if you give an Empire Kingdom "Terrain" it gets a penalty.

Why can't we have an empire that gets bonuses for being in the desert?

I'm not talking about the "Terrain" as it's called in the xml code, I'm talking about the terrain you see in the game, the flavors. You know, user end aesthetics.

The ""environment"".

Ah, How do you change the environment and environment bonuses, and why do you have to be a modder to do it? This seems like it should be a no brainer for Stardock.
