[Suggestion] Upgradable Lair resources, Ogre camps, Mecrs, etc

In the game, we have access to lair resources and with influence and the right technology, we can build them and they produce troops.  I love the mechanic, completely.  I don't have to waste city time in building them, if my city has more than one, it gets full use out of all of them, it's nice. But, what I would like, is the ability with further research and investment, to upgrade the resources so they produce better troops.  Maybe my darklings are better armed and armored, maybe instead of getting a couple trolls, I get a troll warrior, instead of the 3 man Knight of Asok, I get a 5 or 7, instead of unarmored mercs, maybe I get some in rusty armor.

Right now, many of the units are marginally useful at best.  The dragons, of course are perfectly fine.  Some units wages are far, far too high, I assume that a Knight of Asok costing 9 gold a turn an dmercs costing 4.5 is a bug and will be fixed.

I really like these resources, I find them fun, but I want them to be better.  Also, fewer, better troops would work better than having a ton of things like Wildlings and Darklings.

I'm running with this for my own recruitable monsters in an unreleased version of Stormworld and it really adds so much fun to the mid- and late-game civilization tree. My most recent game I got 2 prestigious locations, 1 iron ore mine and 1 crystal crag for my entire kingdom. I balanced the use of influence between negotiating alliances with the enemy and spending it on upgrading my recruitment lairs.

I wish they were added as a resource.. Either like horses (Imagen an archer riding an oger :P)

Or maybe when you design a unit you can choose to design an ogre unit instead of a human unit?

Ogre should at least be able to progress through their levels

Banished Ogre

Ogre

Bone Ogre

***edit***  same with trolls

Troll

Big nasty Warrior Troll

Troll Shaman

I wish they could be upgraded, but I also want to point out that you shouldn't laugh at wildling lairs. I've had a game where Pariden (yeah, Pariden) found a bunch of them close to their start and just literally swarmed the world with wildlings. It's probably the only time I've ever seen Pariden do well in a game.

Good suggestion. An upgrade option (mana + crystal) for shard demons would be nice too.
