Is there *ANY* way to execute particular citizens?

I want to kill the shopkeeper in one of my cities.

I'm out there, every day, protecting my country from those who would see us dead; I'm fighting rock monsters and dragons, all to protect my people's freedoms--and for what? So the shopkeeper can give me 4 gold for a wolf pelt and then charge me 150g for a broadsword? I'd like to be able to execute this fool for treason.

While he's in his bed sleeping at night, probably grinning how he swindled me out of 180g for a fire staff that barely does any damage, I'm out losing entire armies to a spider. Why? So that spider doesn't siege my city and rob him of his precious wares, of which had he provided them to me, I'd not be dying to an arachnid.

I'd like to be able to kill the shopkeeper.

I burned a city to the ground once because he sold me some chainmail he told me was masterwork but wasn't.

Only when I went to the next city, to my amazement, it was the same bugger peddling wares there!

I agree that the prices seems a bit high for buying equipment. It's probably a balance thing but still.

Anyway, the shopkeeper is probably so rich by now he'd be able to fund a revolution if you tried to have him executed :annoyed:

It's an endlessly cloned family.  A sort of Dalek, but with the ultimate goal of driving all who live into economic despair and ruin.

Surely we've all learned (from that great source of knowledge - movies) that the best way to handle this is to raise the taxes to 110%, and then build some gallows & a prison.

When eventually some do-gooder hero from a neighboring country comes meddling in your affairs, you thrash them within an inch of their life (because just like in the movies, the buggers can't be killed) & they'll return in the next episode, when we get to thrash'em again!

Unfortunately that multiplier of x5 in the shop seems to be hard coded. It wold be much nicer if it were around x3 for cost increase. Makes that broadsword 90 gildar and that firestaff 108 gildar. This would make the salted pork the oh so reasonably priced at 18 gildar.

^_^

Shopping prices have bothered me alot during the latest beta's, I never really use the shop for anything but shields (which are amazingly cheap).

The rest I ignore, and would rather rush a new unit...
"Hmm what do I want, +1 defense, or a new militia unit to help out?"

Would have been nice if prices rose and fell according to the presence of threats around the city of affecting roads between them.  I know it won't be done, but still.

The multiplier is x0.2 not x5. Selling prices are 1/5th of the real item value.

I can raise an entire army for what it costs me to buy a coat during wintertime in his shop.

Same same, and semantics, he is talking with the selling price as the baseline and you are thinking about purchasing price as the baseline.

Fair is fair, the xml coding is on the purchasing price baseline (I just checked). Thus, the multiplier that is hard-coded is x.2 for the purchase value of the item. Unfortunate for the balancing of things, because I feel that the prices are too high, but the sell values are correct (in comparison to rushing costs and upgrade costs of the troops). But unless I missed in the xml files we still can't change that multiplier (which would have been nice to do, but not necessary).

It would have been nice to maybe make a trait that gives you higher sell values at the shop or lower shop value prices.

I know that it would be nicer if the prices went up when purchasing from an opponent shop.

So do I. Too bad that the multiplier is still hardcoded.

heh, that'd be awesome! :)

If you are doing well, those things cost a pretty penny, but if an enemy army is within the ZoC, the price lowers relatively to the enemy army's power score.
