How do you destroy a city?

After half an hour of looking through forum posts to no avail, I've cracked and am starting this post. So.... just how in the hell DO you destroy a city? The A.I. rushed cities into highly important resource areas that are critical to me, I took a couple of them over but I just can't fight multiple fronts right now, it would be more beneficial to me to just burn the cities to the ground and come back later with outposts after I've dealt with one of them.

I'm hoping I am missing something obvious here... because it would really suck not to be able to burn these ugly ass cities the empire A.I.s have built.

Q:  How do you destroy a city?

A:  After you have owned it for 5 turns an option to 'Raze' the city becomes available.  I think it shows up immediately in the little city menu with rename etc,  but when you try to do so it says you have to wait for those 5 turns.

You probably need to click on the little arrows on the right side of the 'Rename' button. They say 'More Options', if you mouse-over them, and should bring up the 'Raze' button, if you click them.

Another possibility to destroy a city is Curgen's Volcano. You need to research Third Book of the Magi in the magic tech tree to unlock it. It costs a lot of mana to cast, but it will destroy the target city and the surrounding area without fail.
