Thank You Brad Wardell et al!

free game! good!

I have been a fan of Stardock forever. The amount of hours I have put into every possible permutation of Galactic Civilizations has made me a joke in my family  .

However, I am sure it comes as no surprise to anyone if I mention, that IMHO, the original Elemental was one terrible game. I had totally written it off and so was very surprised to be given a free copy of The Fallen Enchantress. I thought it was a very classy gesture, so thank you.

So far, I have only played through the tutorial but .. no crashes! the landscape remained stable, the random stuff everywhere stayed where it was until you get around to it! All good things, to say the least.

Thanks,

Laurel

PS when will there be a new expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations? ;)

I downloaded it the other day, and have been pleasantly surprised.  It is a good game.  Only thing is the empire seems to stomp all over kingdom at every difficulty, but I must be doing something wrong.

The overall game though is great, it really addressed most of the issues from the first one.  I am enjoying it, and the letter from stardock was a very classy gesture.  Thank you guys for reminding me why I do prefer your company.

I also wrote off Elemental (it was a very sad day... I really wanted to play something even remotely similar to Master of Magic again) and I have not even played Fallen Enchantress, as it's currently downloading.  What has really amazed me though is that Stardock has kept everyone up to date over the past two years on the progress of Elemental and then Fallen Enchantress, along with a free copy of Fallen Enchantress.  Wow!  Can't wait to give the new game a spin today!

Thanks!

I'll add my thanks as well.  Thank you for hanging in there with us on such a great game!

I too felt amazed when I received an email telling me I had a free copy waiting for me.

Here's the catch, I already bought FE.

Am I just out of luck, or can I have something else?  }:)

If I can't I still have a great deal of respect for the ethics of Stardock.

I must add my thanks to the list, receiving a free game from a company from which I bought a bad game is a new thing for me. And I sure did buy/play through some horrible games in all those years of gaming. This is a most gracious policy that I do applaud.

Thus far the game has been entertaining, and is a very matured up Elemental : war of magic. I must admit my first impression was "what, Elemental again ? Pfah !" but I kept on playing and I must say the game finally caught me in its rich atmosphere, offering a dense 4X experience. Every detail is fine tuned, and I'm especially fond of the unit design system. The AI is good, even on normal, I've yet to see a wonder in my cities build orders :). My only gripe of sort would be the female model of Ythril, the faction I'm playing on my first game, seem to have Botox lips, but whatever, I can't blame them for pimping up.

So many thanks for this most unusual and really pleasing gift, and best of lucks for the continued development of Elemental and Stardock other projects.

End of Mubunu's quote

FYI, once a Wonder is in someone's build queue it will no longer show up for anyone else.

A.) I'd like to have the Fallen Enchantress take over space..

B.) I think the Drengin and at least the Altarians should crash land in a wild land and end up as playable races.  |-)

Altarians are a playable race.  Altar?!?!?!  Altarians?  Same people.  WoM had Drath in it too.

I would simply like to take this opportunity to thank Stardock games for not only owning up to a a poorly done game (albeit with grand design) but also taking the further step of reaching out to old customers and attempting to bring them back. kudos on you guys!

P.S haven't played it yet. still downloading FE, but looking forward to it.

That email hit me as a surprise and I peeked suspiciously at it's contents, after having gotten a phishing mail yesterday about my Diablo III account (...never had one...). After downloading and seeing the tutorial, I add my thanks to those above ;)

And for the record, I would love another GalCiv, too, that was my favorite space game together with MoO 2.

I would like to express my gratitude also toward Stardock and Mr Wardell. A company that really cares for his customers is a rare spawn. What they did was much more what any other game company would have done in the same situation and I saw other companies making games much worst than Elemental was without making amends and sometimes without making any patches at all.

You already had my fidelity to your company but it just got stronger. Thank you and best of luck in your operations; you must never close!
