[Crash] Windows 7 Closes the Programming Right at the Start

Is anyone else having this problem? I click on "Play" in Steam, my computer starts processing, and then the Windows message box pops up and lets me know that it'll let me know when it has an answer (yeah right). I have a high end Dell XPS that isn't even a year old, so the performance shouldn't be an issue. I just bought the game today and would like to play it. Any suggestions?

I'm getting this too lately. Using Steam's "Verify Integrity of Cache files" seems to work, though it doesn't actually redownload anything it just launches something else before it starts (some setup app )

Another high end computer with updated drivers.  The obvious thing is that you have updated drivers. Per this thread:  https://forums.elementalgame.com/415301
