Only $10 Off?

I logged into my account hoping to get Fallen Enchantress for free after I had heard about that from several sources. Well, I only see myself getting $10 off and I don't know why. It doesn't tell me anywhere, I can't find anything about it. Was it only for pre-order people? Just curious, as I doubt I'll buy the game after playing Elemental.

Thanks for any help.

It depends on when you purchased War of Magic.  It's a sliding scale starting with anyone who purchased in 2010 getting it for free to people who never purchased it paying full price.

If you think you're account should be getting it free because of when you purchased WOM you can email Stardock and they'll fix it.

Thank you for the reply! I understand that, seeing as how the people who bought it later had much more of an idea of what the game was like before picking it up, not to mention discounts after time etc. I won't contact them about it, I'd assume that $10 off is right with that information. I'll just wait and check reviews and hope that it's worth picking up, and if so, I'll give it a go. I've bought nearly all of Stardocks games, here's hoping FE renews my faith.

I think you will be very pleasantly surprised by FE.  It is so good in so many ways.  There are some great mods already for it as well.   Anyway, welcome back to the community.

End of Murteas's quote

... on the other hand, I would recommend caution.

Just sit and try to answer this one question. Elemental: War of Magic was:

a )  basically a great game, only bogged down in bugs, a few unfortunate features and having stability problems

b )  a game whose fundamental design just did not feel right. A set of great components that somehow did not make an exciting game.

If a ) is true, then by all means, go and buy it. If b ) is true, give it a second thought. Because in the very core, the mechanics are very similar and certain problems were inherited from Elemental to FE.

No Kamamura. Your examples there are poor. FE may have similarities to WOM, without a doubt, but it is so much different you can't really compare.

The problem is that "if the fundamental design just did not feel right" is a very subjective phrase. I thought the E:WoM design "didn't feel right" but am enjoying Fallen Enchantress immensely. Many of the things that were poorly executed in WoM are very well executed in FE (city building, hero leveling, strategic spells, UI, etc.).

If you could go into detail on what those problems that FE inherited from WoM are, then I could see some merit in your post. Because as of right now it basically reads as "You should avoid FE unless you thought WoM was a great game."

Well, if you purchased WOF then there was something that appealed about it that you wanted. This time I think you'll get what you expected the first time :-)
