Stretching the research vs production pacing

So after playing some games in the beta, and now after the official launch I have (only) one big complaint.
Normally I would try to back a thread like this up with more raw data/numbers, but my gut instincts tell me I am right on this. 

Namely the pacing of the game seems to be pretty off, especially the balance between research and production pacing.

 Every game I notice that I am going through the research tree to fast, even when I barely focus on research itself. It is most noticable when you compare it to the amount of time it takes to construct buildings, vs the time it takes to finish a research path.

Especially the later tiers of the research trees are being researched too fast. It should not take me equally long as building a dragon den, as it will take me to research all the other paths in the last tier of civilization tree.

I recommend either adding several extra tiers, but keeping the same amount of techs.
Or substantially increasing the research cost of the later techs. I think the research cost of techs increases linearly, while it probably should be increasing exponentially (more cities, bigger cities, better buildings).

Are other people experiencing the same issue?

I tried Epic the other night but I found that production was far too fast compared to my research. I ended up quitting after a couple hours because every city had every upgrade possible and still plenty of turns remaining between new research being completed. They really need to change this because it just makes Epic pacing pointless at the moment.

I might try that next game. I have played tons of Civ IV and Civ V though, and game speeds effect all production/research/income/growth rate.
Is that different in FE, does it only slow down research while keeping the income+production at equal rate?

I might not have been clear though, but my biggest problem is that I am still constructing building from a tech I finished 10 techs ago. Or that I have two lvl 3 conclave cities, in which I can build a library that takes me 24 turns, or not build anything and finish a t6 tech in 10 turns.

 

Edit: read the next reply, I will try the other settings, thanks for the tip! Maybe some eventual number tweakings will be done later anyways, worst case scenario I have to rely on later mods :P

Yeah, it's different, as you can tell from Wolverine's post above yours.

Personally I like it this way and hope they leave the existing Epic pacing alone, but if needed add more pacing settings closer to the ones in Civ (like Wolverine is asking for).
