Is the AI and gameplay comparable to Gal Civ 2??

So I read on the FE Steam Forum that the AI expands way too fast. (way more cities and outposts compared to the player)


This type of AI behaviour reminds me a lot of the Gal Civ 2 AI... 

The more I read stuff about the game the more I get the idea that this is Gal Civ 2 in a fantasy world + rpg elements....?


Please tell me there's more to this??

Btw, I enjoyed Gal Civ 2 but it lacked an addictive element and the combat was uninspiring to me.

GalCIV2:TA was like crack to me.  Burned up a lot of hours in that game 1/2 of which was in the ship editor :)
