Does Critical Hit chance affect spells?

I don't know if spells can critical, but if so, is the critical hit chance only for physical attacks?  The manual doesn't say.  It refers to physical attacks in other descriptions, but not for this one.

Thanks!

Don't remember, I knew it did at some point... I have to try out casting flamedarts as an assassin again to test it <_<

Granted I also am not sure, but I thought SD couldn't separate spells from the crit yet before the final release. There was also mention that assassin is the best mage...

Don't know if they plan on separating that now after release...

I'm newer to the game, and to my surprise while playing last night I had a champion crit with an air spell, I forget the name but it teleports you to a location and does damage around the character. Was pretty cool since I didn't know spells could crit.

End of Riggamortis's quote

Haha, then I don't have to test, you can still crit with spells.

It seems to me like a bug. Everything in the game suggests (Path of assassin, dagger bonuses) that "Critical hits" represent deft and skillful attacks against especially vulnerable parts of human/monster bodies. The skill itself represents the physical ability to deliver such attacks. It makes no sense to me it influences also spells.

The problem is, that in order for crits to effect ranged attacks, they need to effect spells (a ranged attack is essentially a spell.)
