Basic questions about buying and running game

This might be helpful to others as well as me, so I thought I'd ask if this is correct: 

 

1)  No retail box version of the game - download only.   Correct?  Is one maybe planned for later, or is this straight digital only? 

2)  If you buy from Stardock you do not need to install Steam?   Correct or incorrect? 

3) I'm assuming this, but I'll ask just to get it on the record - the Steam and Stardock versions will have the same patches, DLC, etc?  

4) The release version of the game needs a one time internet activation at installation, but does not need to connect after that (except maybe for patches). Correct?   Or does it 'phone home' every now and then?

1. Digital download only, if they have plans to release a box copy I haven't seen them.

 

2. If you buy from the Stardock site you download from the Stardock site, not need for steam.

 

3. FE on steam is just the ability to use the steam shell with FE.

 

4. It just needs to connect that once. If you download through Stardock you can use their software and it will automatically download updates, otherwise I believe the patches/updates are also released as standalone files. 

 

 

Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

1,2,3 are correct.

4 If you get it from stardock its yours.  No need to ever be online again unless you want an update (and steam doesnt get anything off the top for Stardocks hard work).
