Screen tearing on two different GeForce cards

The screen tearing happens horizontally across the entire screen while I'm scrolling around the map. It usually occurs near the middle, but I've seen it happen near the top and bottom of the map as well.

I have tried the game on two different computers, one with a 660ti and one with a 560 running Nvidia's latest drivers.

Enabling Vsync and/or Triple Buffering in the Nvidia control panel doesn't fix it, running D3D overrider with Vysnc and/or Triple Buffering doesn't fix it.

I even tried running DXTory which limits the amount of frames in any application to 60, and that didn't fix it either.

The screen tearing happens from left to right across the entire screen while I'm scrolling around the map. It usually occurs near the middle, but I've seen it happen near the top and bottom of the map as well.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Yeah quit overclocking your video cards. ;)

I've seen this as well. Be nice if FE had native Vsync...

That has nothing to do with screen tearing. I don't overclock and see it as well.Frame rate faster than Monitor refresh rate= tearing.

BTW this isn't specific to any video card..  I see it on my ATI. As i said above its just a matter of getting a frame rate thats higher than the monitor refresh rate.

The problem with VSyncing without triple buffering is you get worse performance when your machine cannot keep up with the screen refresh rate.

Are you running on Windows XP or with the Desktop Window Manager disabled, or with the game forced into full screen mode?

My cards are not overclocked.

I'm running this on Win7 64 with the Aero desktop disabled.

Also, as I said, I tried running it with every combination of vsync and triple buffering off and on using both the Nvidia control panel and D3D overrider, none of which fixed the problem.

Is there a way to force full screen mode? I tried setting the resolution to "desktop" and 1680x1050 in the game options, but both seem to only give me a  borderless window. When I alt-tab, it shows the game running under the window I'm alt-tabbing to... as opposed to most full-screen games where it minimizes the game when alt-tabbing.

I run XP.

As to Vsync without triple buffering.. thats why its usually an option to turn on/off.

Note my tearing isn't so common that i felt the need to post a thread.. but I do see it often enough to add a post to someone elses.

I just figured out how to force full-screen through the prefs.ini file. The screen tearing still occurs when forcing full-screen.

Turn on Aero.

I am having almost exactly the same issue - which I should note I never had during the beta. (the only change to my machine between the last beta I ran (0.95x maybe) and v1.0 was changing to nvidia driver version 306.23 from 295.73). I also tried the newest version, 306.97 with no effect). As with earlier poster, I have enabled Vsync and triple buffering through the NVidia control panel with no perceived effect. I have yet to see a fraps frame rate drop below 60 (which is my monitor refresh rate). I have: NVidia GTX 460 Win 7 64 bit Aero has always been enabled Pretty much a vanilla install of win7

I noticed the tearing on beta, and also with the release.  I should add that I notice the tearing on other games as well, (and have a card with problematic drivers) so I don't blame this game.  On a whim, I turned off AA (set it to zero) and I have not seen any tearing since.

Turning on Aero worked like a charm. I'd like to not have to enable Aero just for this game and have to disable it every time I quit, though.
