Has the Randomness actually increased?

Hey all - I was eagerly awaiting the final release of FE after playing the beta for a number of months. The polish that has been put into the game is top notch and I can appreciate the evolution.

The problem is now, I am just not feeling it. I am not sure what is wrong. I feel like the random, annoying things that make me want to quit a game has actually increased. Now, I understood things would be different, but I even moved down to normal difficulty. My sovereign gets slaughtered with ease, either with two hits from a black widow or a barrage of shadow bolts from a wildling shaman. I am not sure what it is, but now, I am just getting into the game.

I was looking forward to the campaign, but as uncool as this makes me sound, I thought the first scenario was too hard. I had to quit that out of frustration as well. Maybe I am too close to it and need to lay off for a while, or maybe I am missing something.

My advice, learn the expert ways of Tuidjy. He seems to know alot of the tricks to overwhelm the game before it takes you out. I am at the point where I couldn't really explain how I do what I do. I just know all the numbers and make them work for me. Still, I'll bet a few let's plays would get you immersed a little more. At least you know the more you wait, the more content and better balance will emerge.

When you learn the game, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the monsters normal diffuculty is very very easy and almost impossible to lose on. Then you will enjoy the changes to this indeed, and move up the difficulty levels, and you will be glad the monsters arent made nicer then they are. I for one like to play on a difficulty where I lose the game more often then I win it.

Just start a new game and try to do better this time, and learn from your blunders and have respect for the animals and monsters. They are not civilization walkover barbarians.

NB: Monsters give you a harder time when settling cities too compared with a few betas ago. Make sure you don't just spam out cities without clearing the area for the closest threaths, or without being able to defend the city when the boarder grows and there is a chance the monsters of the nearby lair will come straight for your city.

Find people here who have different takes that can help you.  I play Pariden and Pariden-flavored sovereigns a lot.  If that's your speed, I can get you up to playing on the Hard level and winning in no time.  Others will gladly help, too.

Well, during Beta I had worked my way all the way up to Challenging and I was routinely slapping the computer around like a red-headed step child. I just switched to easy. I had watched all the videos and read the AAR reports of tuidjy. Still, having heroes die in their first fight is no fun. Maybe I have just been having bad luck.

I don't mind losing. The problem is I haven't really played a game very long because of the alarming frequency of my heroes and sovereign dying.

I strongly recommend you build troops to go with your heroes. They severely nerfed the early-game loot, and as a result heroes don't manage well without at least one other unit in their army.
