FE RPG Wishlist

While I am awaiting the release of FE, here is my wish list for a FE RPG that incorporates the mythos and creatures of Fallen Enchantress.

1. The focus of the FE RPG would be tactical combat and the "dramatic" effect of player actions/decisions on the world around them.

  1. Example: PCs discover that a town is to be attacked. They can influence the outcome of this battle by 1) recruiting other NPCs to defend the town and/or 2) assit in the the defense of the town; however, if they arrive at the town too late they find it has been burnt and pillaged.
  2. Example - complete a specified quest and you are invited to meet a sovereign or this causes a keep (with new NPCs) to appear on a hilltop.
  3. Example - pull a lever in a dungeon and whole level is flooded with water. It's a race to get out, with new aquatic creatures in the water.
  4. Example - Slay the child of a troll and the troll tribe attacks the hamlet. Save the troll child and the trolls will not attack the hamlet.

2. The PCs can view the game from both sides

  1. Example - Brigands hire the PCs to break their chief out of  a dungeon in a keep (and NPCs guard the keep). A lord hires the PCs to guard the keep while he is away (and NPCs attack the keep). Same map, but two totally different experiences.
  2. Example - Good Sovereign hires PCs to recover a treasure from an ancient crypt (they encounter evil NPCs when leaving the crypt) and if successful the sovereign gains a level). Evil Sovereign hires the PCs to perform the same task and they encounter good NPCs while in the crypt.

3. PCs background and skills have a dramatic effect on NPC interactions. The trade-off between low charisma-high strength-being average is dramatic

4. NPCs grow and develop based on PC actions. Complete a quest for an evil NPC and the Evil NPC gains a level (and new follower?. Fail to foil an Evil NPC's plans and the Evil NPC gains a level (and new followers?)

5. Quests have multiple solutions

  • Enter the Castle: 1) Via the Main Gate, 2) Disguised, 3) Climb the Walls 4) teleport in 5) bribe, 6) steal an invitation, etc.

6. Time Based Dungeons

  • Unless stopped evil grows in power - At Time 1000 - Big Bad is level 5 and has 2 followers, and Time 2000 Big Bad is Level 7 and has 10 minions, at Time 10000 the Big Bad Attacks the Town with his army.

I would love to see each faction sovereign have their own bi-directional story within the sandbox mode. Playing each according to their 'natural' incline, or to resist/betray and swap sides. Each according to their inherent circumstances. Each eventually leading to the climatic master quest, which is only to be unlocked once your characters story line is complete.

If this happens, FE becomes the first 5X game EVER!
