[0.992] Shadow Dagger

The early-game is so devoid of useful weapons, >_<
While I always hope to loot a shadow-dagger early, I still hope for someday when I wont pick daggers over maces ^^ (nonmagical daggers, 6 attack version)

i long for the day when i give my mages staves and wands rather than dagger to make them able to cast spells more often ...

Prolly gonna be a mod up "soon" after release with that feature, I know I will mod it into my game if the modding tools are good enough. (And "dumbed" down enough so I can use them)

My Lady Irane just defeated Clambercoil Dragon with only Shadow Dagger, Leather and Rusty armor pieces and a couple of potions. She had Shadow Strike 2 that ignores 50% Defence. So Shadow Dagger together with Shadow Strike 2 completely ignores armor. Shadow Dagger is much better than spears, because it gives +4 Initiative, Counterattack, ignores more Defence and has no Weight. Add to this Burning Blade and Finesse, and it becomes dragon-killer. Cast Shrink to dragon, Haste to Irane and gg.

Harmonius, you make no sense. With all the things your sovereign had going for her, she could have made the kill, almost as easily and with more reward, with a practice sword, and it would have not been much harder with a rusty sword.

And of course, unless you can stack damage (Burning blade, lethal line, swordsman line) you are better off with a more damaging blade.  Hell, I cannot imagine a situation in which I would not rather have a skath blade, let alone an assassin blade, serrated anything, etc...

The Shadow dagger is one of the two weapons I enjoy finding early on. In my last play-through, I found both a Shadow dagger and a practice sword before turn 40. I ended up using the practice sword. Why? Because what I can kill with the dagger, I can kill with the sword, but I get 5-6 more xpt per garrote, so I do not see the point in killing them a tiny bit faster.  And I am not sure about the faster.

Edit: the bonus xpt does not matter much for the sovereign, but it adds up for the spearmen and archers he is leading.

I just tried to defeat Clambercoil Dragon with other weapons and the dragon defeated me. My Lady Irane makes 8-18 damage to the dragon with Shadow Dagger. For comparison, Short Sword makes only 3-9 damage to the dragon. It is because Shadow Strike 2 + Shadow Dagger completely ignores armor.

All I suggest is to make Shadow Dagger Uncommon.

We need more weapons + Armor of this caliber. It screams 'unique'!!

Yea I like a lot of the unique weapons, I just wish there were more early-game weapons where I'm actually excited to see them drop... Or lategame weapons for that matter, all I go for right now is swords.

The loot table for weapons and armor has been badly nerfed.  In my ridiculous/ridiculous games, I equip my guys from my shops. 

Of course, there are plenty of total unbalancing early drops, just not equippable ones, as one could see if I could get around to posting Borislav's adventurers.  The game is up to turn 55, it's quite interesting, but I am sitting in a stupid radio station, waiting for a team of geeks to find problems in my embedded software so I can fix them.  By the way, anyone who tells you that there are no brown widows / recluses in California is lying to you.

Its not so much it have been nerfed, that most weapons that doesn't have "Counter Attack" are just poor compared to "Counter Attack"...

Druss Blade, anyone?

Seriously - lvl 18?  By lvl 18, most of the time I've forgotten that I got the sword 10 levels ago.

Can't wait for release today and mod the crap out of the weapon drops to do some unique (even if no powerful) things.

Got that feeling too... Well "opening downloads page"...
