Fallen Enchantress does not use Steamworks.  It is available on Steam as a product, but thats all.

Steam Cloud just means your saves are uploaded. Lose your hard drive? Play on different computers? You will always have the same save its a really really nice feature of steam. It's a regret not to have.

I have a lot of Steam games but never had the need to save on the steam cloud since I have a large HD.

Also Stardock is selling Steam activation key on other digital stores like www.gamersgate.com and www.impulsedriven.com so game is some kind of Steamworks. :P

I have gotten achievements during the demo.  For killing various "boss" monsters and such.  Is that part of the game and not steam?

Isn't it amazing how Steam bundled their service with a bunch of cool features, so now people are basically BEGGING to have DRM installed in their games?

I've used it for playing same game on my home/work/laptop computers. It's pretty nice, but using dropbox isn't to big a hassle to get similar (but not equal) capability. I don't try to setup saves to dropbox, just make a shortcut to the saves folder on my desktop of all computers, then do a quick copy/paste to/from dropbox on desired computer. As I said a bit more hassle, but not by a lot.

I agree.  I think it's much better to have these really neat achievements than actual game content, and to be able to talk to other players all the time!!!!1!!!!!

Fine to see pointless Steam haters in here too. Steam saved the PC gaming from dying, you should know this. I am using the Steam since 2004 and I had no problem, it is awesome. And I think it is the best DRM in the PC gaming, also for me it is better than the DRM free.

Please don't turn this thread to Steam hate thread. And finally I am asking for Steam version only, I don't care Stardock's DRM free version.

You make a thread where you glorify Steam, try to get Stardock to use their DRM, and you don't think players are going to argue against you? Wrong.

Its fair to ask for the in-game achievement's to be ported as steam achievement's too (If you in game click "Ctrl+Tab" there will be an achievement's tab.

Personally I don't know what it takes to activate steam-cloud but usually see it supported by all games, hope SD will support that feature too since that is a nice feature to always have access to my save-games. That said they should only take a brief moment to look at these things, meaby after release, meaby before.
(I don't even know if it is the steam-crew or the star-dock crew who is responsible for steam-cloud and steam-achievement's)

I only asked this for Steam version as I said. I don't want Stardock to use Steam DRM for Stardock Store copies. Ok? Also I haven't glorified Steam while opening this thread, please read the first post on this thread, I only asked a question. And Stardock used Steamworks before for Sins Rebellion and saw it's success at the sales.

Stardock is responsible for adding Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. :) And I have 3 computers it would be really awesome to keep my savegames in the cloud.

Huh... I thought the devs had to put Steamworks DRM in the game to get access to achievements and such. Looks like I was wrong. Sorry.

Ok I can see the use in that. However I only have one PC.

I still hate Steam and all their evil ways.  I also hated every draconian DRM I came across.  Not to mention I have been hating on Firaxis and Civ ever since Civ was Steam Only.  Even if you bought your copy from somewhere else.  You had to go thru bloody Steam.  But yeah. There's at least one out here that wants nothing to do with Steam at all.  Completely.
