Books: You can only use them when you first pick them up?

Why cannot I trade them to use later? Is this a bug or WAD?

I do not have trouble using the books after you pick them up.

You cannot use them in the trade menu though, but you can in your equipment menu of the character. As well as the quick bar of the character currently holding it.

Not being able to use items in the trade window is a disappointing oversight.

This has been one of the confusing aspects of the interface; you cannot use items in the trade window; you have to exit the trade window then type E to get the equipment interface and from there you can use items (mostly books but heal potions and stuff if you wish).

It is awkward, agreed.  I hope they put in a Use button before the game goes gold, though obviously this isn't a dealbreaker.  It's just slightly...convoluted.
