I have this saved game where a storm dragon sits just outside my city and attacks the next turn. If you auto-resolve the battle and pick up an item from defeating the storm dragon, none of the champions stationed in the city receive the item, nor does my sov.

Ah, yes, looks one and the same. Hopefully it gets fixed, I had got a pretty kickass shield and was dissapointed when I couldn't find it.
I hope your saved game helps them debug it.
