Would the Lucky strength skill override the defensive hit you take from taking the weakness no armor?

I am building a new kingdom so far i have Enchanter and Binding but really like the 25% to dodge and 25% to accuracy so i am going to take the weakness no armor. My question is how much of a bonus does chain and plate give and does lucky override any defensive bonus i am losing?

Plus look at all the time and money i save by not having the higher armor and since this is a magic based kingdom i figured it leather would be enough--or would it end game?

I once created a nation with Wanderlust, Lucky and Guile, with no armor.  It worked really well, but standard troops did suffer late game.  But you want to play to your strengths.  So increase dodge bonuses as much as possible.  My standard unit had full leather with Athican leather chest, a round shield, and a Athican longsword with all the dodge bonuses I could muster.  Now, I would also make a few with magic gear to add more dodge on it.  They were very good units, and stood up well to other units.

Also, this helps all of your heroes too.  And if you want you could take Armorer for your Sov and give a 25% armor bonus to them too.

And you can make them Krax to get more bonuses.

I love making nation builds in this game.  I think up shit to try all the time.

Not to sound like an idiot but how do i make magical armor or are you talking loot drops? Still new to this so i am still learning all the in's and out's  of the game.

The magic armor and items I described where from advancing in the tech trees of either warfare or magic.  The "Athican" stuff you get from the wanderlust faction trait, and they replace the standard leather armor chest or the longsword, they are better, but not necessary   Other items, like dodge bonus cloaks and things can be researched in the magic tech tree and unlocks.  You have to have crystals  to build troops with them though.

The items also become available in your cities' shops. Too many are overpriced, but some are an absolute lifesaver for some types of heroes: the dodge cloak, the regeneration talisman, the speed amulet...  If your opponent is fielding troops with a particular elemental attack, you may want to buy a Dragon skin cloak, an Ice warg pelt, etc...

Of course, mounts are essential to every hero.

And if you play without restores, you will want to stock up on healing items.

Healing items, even if it's just bread or meat can be life savers.

It's funny. I have to train myself to use health items now. They were so pointless before that I always just ignored them.

Me too actually. I don't think I hardly ever used a healing item until the last couple of patches.

I have one more question if you guys do not mind--actually i have about 50 unanswered questions but that will be for another time--Does the Cruel weakness mean a bonus of 1 to attack to you or a bonus for whatever mob you are facing and does the +5% unrest remain or can we work it down with techs?

You could make a questions and answers thread, I will answer all the questions I know.

The +1 to attack is to the HERO which have the "weakness" Cruel,
The +5% unrest hits all your cities like the unrest from tax rates, it can be lowered with the same means:
Stationing heroes in your cities
Building unrest reducing buildings
Some city enchants help
The official weasel stomping day helps it too... ok this last one was a joke ;))

The +1 attack is a bonus for your Sov, and you can work down the unrest with buildings and magic city spells.

Thank you for the answers--does not seem like that weakness is all that bad.

BTW, please note these kind of bonuses doesn't work if your full attack is elemental, say equipped with one of the elemental staves for example.

And it may seem that -5% unrest isn't that bad, but it's a hit on production, research and gold.  And no quick and early way of countering it without giving up something else, like casting oppression  but that takes up an essence slot for something else.
