[.983] Hired champions kill their companion units

I've hired one or two champions that had a pet/troop of some sort. After hiring, the other unit dies. Is this a bug? If not, could we request to keep the other unit(s)? It's confusing and disappointing. I'm assuming the other units were added to make the champion more difficult to kill, but if I'm hiring a champion that has a fire elemental as a pet, I want to keep it!

I don't think this is a bug.  It's been this way for quite awhile.

I agree, it's sad to see all those unique units & monsters go to waste.

Since this only happens with higher level champions, and it takes some dedicated research to get them, I also think we should get to keep the whole army.

I agree :)

I'm fine with keeping the units if we pay for them.

Maybe even a choice where we pay for the champion with, or without, the mobs.

I asked Derek to leave the companions with the heroes and he told me to "go take a flying flip at a rolling donut".

Would be nice, if the price was steep.

I hope you asked him for cinnamon, or at least one of those sugar-coated ones filled with strawberry jelly.

That would be interesting.  Although you would have to come up with a solution for the Natural Leader.

Maybe should pay for these units too, a cost independent from Natural leaders :)

If they implement something like this officially, it would be horribly unbalanced unless they also implement the "cost with mobs" and "cost without mobs" option.  The mobs were added a long time ago, to make it harder for players and AI's to simply pick off enemy champions before they could be recruited.
