[0.983] Uninstall and Reinstall Resulting in NO$KEY Error

As title states I attempted to uninstall the game and re-install to fix an error I was having with the core.xml files within the game, which worked, then started having trouble seeing the trees within the game.  This was listed as a re-install the most recent version of the game and/or patch the game fix within the forums.  So I attempted to uninstall and got a NO$KEY error and the game stopped being able to run.  So I did a forced uninstall using a force uninstall program I have and it appeared to be gone.  Now When I attempt to re-install the game it still thinks the game is there and is attempting to uninstall and still gets the NO$KEY error.  I have manually searched the registry files and removed everything that has Elemental or Fallen Enchantress within the file names and I am at al loss as to how the installer thinks something is still there.  Some help here would be greatly appreciated.

Oh I am using the most recent Stardock downloader tool and the most recent version of the games client.  I tried to directly download from the Stardock Store as well.

Here's what I would try.

  1. Delete C:\users\<name>my documents\my games\fallenenchantress
  2. Delete c:\programdata\stardock\elemental-fallen enchantress
  3. Delete c:\program files (or program files x86)\stardock games\fallenenchantress
  4. Perform reinstall
  5. Set FE to run as administrator

If this doesn't work I'm not sure what could be done next.

Tried all of that, I can't get past the install, as it says I still have it installed and asks if I really want to uninstall FE.  I also manually went into the registry and tried to remove all traces of Elemental and FE from my computer and it still says that I have it installed somewhere.

I use IOBIT uninstaller for this very reason. The problem is likely that the uninstall is not deleting the registry. This program is capable of searching for the reg and deleting it. I had the same problem a few times and this seemed to fix it.

Actually thats what I used to uninstall FE  8C .  Now it still thinks FE is still there.  This is starting to worry me for why I can't reinstall.

Did you run the power scan and delete all the regs? Maybe try finding the program data folder and making sure it is deleted.

I did that as well as well as manually searching the registry files using Regedit for all entries relating to "Elemental", "Fallen", and "Stardock" and then deleting them.  No luck, the installer still thinks I have a copy installed on my computer.

Anyone at Stardock have a suggestion?

Might send in an actual e-mail if you want it solved quickly. That way you actually have a ticket and the ear of the IT people.

While this may seem silly but how do I do that?  I do not know where to start it at from this website or the Stardock one.

Holy Cats I got it to reinstall finally.  I am up extremely late anyways studying for a quiz tomorrow and decided that since I was so tired I can't see strait to take a stab at this again.

I did a system restore to the point right before IOBit did a force uninstall.

I then attempted to run the game to which nothing worked.  I looked at the files and found my data folder empty and figured I was sunk.  As a last ditch effort I decided what the heck try IOBit again.  I force uninstalled and did the powerful scan like last time.  IOBit said I uninstalled, then I noticed that Fallen Enchantress was still in my program list so did the same thing again, force uninstall and powerful scan.  Turns out there were 128 additional registry notations that were not removed from the first powerful scan.  Once I did this I fired up the install program before getting ready to shut down for the night and I was pleasantly surprised to see the install start working.

And thats how Elemental (babies) are made. (Well not really but damn its late)
