Just in case it hasn't been fixed [Spells should probably not be able to crit]

I'm still seeing this in 0.982.  Especially with the big spells, it does ludicrous amounts of damage when they crit, so spells should probably be prevented from making a critical attack.

I had no idea spells could do this. What are the conditions that trigger a critical? And how would you prevent them?

I don't mind it so much, as long as there's some UI/info about the change of critical and certainly information about increasing/decreasing it.

i think thats the reason some staff has -crit to preclude the base crit chance of every unit

but yeah i agree spells shouldnt crit

even though following another thread derek told bow attacks are spells, so removing crit would be a problem for archers

i guess they should rework some stuff, or add some hidden -100 crit chance on spells dunno

End of ddd888's quote

So, giving my mage a dagger with increased critical hits will help to critical hit with magic? If that's true, wow.

And the high crit multipliers from weapons can make a single firedart do massive damage.

Wow. It was bad enough that weapons effect initiative even when not used in battle, but critical hits, too, is pretty crazy. Sounds like a post-1.0 release fix.

It's as simple as adding a small bit of xml to damage spells that negates the chance to crit. I think it is intended though, as some spells make all spells crit.
