[.981] Spider Queen random event - fires too soon?

Two games in a row now I've had the Spider Queen random event trigger while my sovereign, one champion, and a summoned sand golem were wandering around as a weak stack and two settlements to support them.  The event plopped a number of epic rated spider stacks near my towns, and not long after that they started spawning strong stacks to wander around and trample over improvements.

I used the control-U cheat to see where the spider stacks were, and didn't see any near any of the AI towns.

Should an event like this, creating such powerful monster stacks, happen so early in the game?  Are the spider stacks supposed to be evenly distributed so that the AI players are affected too?

Good questions. Sounds like a great random event :d

Oh god, I'm having GalCiv II mega-pirates flashbacks. Spiders can only make it worse.

(Mean this in the best possible way, looking forward to having my games shaken up by random events - mostly).

Saw this too, ruined a game when the spiders killed 2 of my 3 towns.. and all encroached onto my capital... This is one of the random events I don't like so far due to experience of the huge stacks you see.

Random events should be able to scale the difficulty of the spawned stuff depending on number of turns with pacing speed, either that or scale it with current hero levels, / current stack sizes for players. Because this is pretty devastating right now to play with 4-5 of these huge spider stacks by turn 100

If there is some reasonable way to cope with these and continue the game, there should be hints that this problem has a solution so the player is encouraged to look for it instead of hitting <CTRL> N. If the problem doesn't have a solution, it shouldn't be part of the game - in GalCiv II, I never found a way to get past the pirates so I turned them off. Hopefully that option exists in FE. In GalCiv II turning off random events was non selective, a pity because some of them made the game more enjoyable. It would be nice if the developers would let us keep the enjoyable random events and simply turn off the game killers and, if there is any way a level 5 sovereign supported by a level 4 champion can cope with epic hordes of spiders, the hints are too subtle for me!
