Start with Elemental or FE?

Hi Forum,

not sure where to put this, so I just ask. I bought the Elemental Main Game when it was released, but haven't played much. Since I bought it this early, I got FE for free including beta access. And I really like what I am seeing, but does it make sense to start with FE when I haven't played the main game? Am I missings tons of stuff and story which isn't included in FE?

 

Do the game mechanic changes also apply to the main game or just FE? Or to make a long story short: Should I starty with the main game or FE?

They're completely different in terms of mechanics.  And pretty much everything else.

E:wom has about an hour or two of buggy campaign for you to play. If playing the beginning of a story is your thing I'd recommend playing that (note - you only get to play the beginning, not the middle or the end of whatever story they were going for).

As for FE, it is a far superior game but we do not yet have access to the campaign. We only have sandbox which has no specific story. Since we don't have access to the campaign in FE it is impossible to say if you are "missing" something if you don't play E:wom first. If you merely wish to enjoy a good game (and don't care about the story that much) then play FE. E:wom was terrible, FE is very good and bordering on great.

I think at most, play the little campaign of WoM if you are interested in any story of it.

While there are tie ins between the campaign for WoM and FE plot wise it's not something that cant stand on its own.  You wont be missing out on anything big in the FE campaign by not playing the WoM campaign.

EWOM made me scream in the night. Go for FE...
