I have played a long game with Altar with standard Sov. It took forever to find a second place to settle so I was way behind the curve in power. Still, it took a long time before Magnar came for me. By then it was midgame and I had only my Sov, a few spearmen and a melee hero.  I though the game was over, but I sent my melee hero to test him. Turned out that she could solo the whole empire of Magnar. Afterwards she soloed the strongest empire Porcipinee (sp?) with ease as well. This was on hard with dense monsters by the way.

Now for the bugs:

- When i design Henchmen they do not appear in the list of units I can train. This is an oldie and it makes Henchmen pretty much useless.

-Cities of the enemies has become invisible. Even after reload they do not come back. Probably not related to Altar, but a general problem.

-I met Ytrhil, but they do not show up in the list of AIs (in upper right corner and under foreign relations). Probably related to the previous bug (memory?)

-Next to my sovereign are two quests that will not trigger when you walk on them. Both are from quests bought at the shop. This happens in every Altar game I have played.

-Often when I buy a quest scroll with my Sov, it will indicate that I have two scrolls. When I use my scroll, they are both gone. I can see the scroll pic with a small "2" on it. This seem to happen after I have a quest that dont trigger.

-I used Shadow world (or is it Shadow rift?) to bother Porcipinee. I put three of them next to her border, but the monsters never ever attacked a city in over 80 turns. I will make a seperate post about this spell as there are several issues with it.

Thats all I remember.

Has Stardock streamed some change to the files (or was it 981)? Suddenly I can see old Henchmen designs and I can build them. I can also give them equipment that doesnt disappear.

On another note. One of the Henchmen was offered Shieldwall as an update, but he already had it. Not a biggie.

got a note in about the henchmen, it seems they do actually load but you have to restart the game :/  needless to say, that's a bug...

I wasn't having trouble with the altar quest scroll though, can you give more information about what's happening when you are using them?  Have other people had problems with the quest scroll?

Yes.  Many of the quests created by the quest map create inactive tiles, i.e. tiles that will not start a quest when a hero walks on them.

1. My hero buys a map from the store for 50 gold.

2. I click on the scroll icon in the army window.

3. An inn/ruin/cave/whatever appears nearby.  It has the yellow quest scroll above its tile.

4. The champion walks to the tile, steps on it and...

   Nothing happens at all.

Notice that it does not happen every time.  I usually get to finish 2-3 quests without problems, and then trouble starts.  At some point I thought the problem only occurs when you come across a quest you've already done once...  nowadays, I am not so sure about that.

@Tuidjy - Excactly like that. Just repeat many times and you will have a few that doesnt trigger.

Have you loaded my savegame and tried to move my Sov to the quests nearby (within a few tiles are two that does not trigger)

Are there unique quests?, the quest spawn but you already did it, so you can“t do it again, quests maps should only spawn repeteable quests.

I found in my latest game that the inactive quests generated by quest scrolls seems to be repeated quests, say I get a quest to "rescue" a cursed shard (Don't remember the name), first of these quests worked, the second time I got the quest the quest location was inactive and impossible to use.

To reproduce this, I feel stardock needs to spend a few hours on a big solo map, just doing quest maps... Might also help them find all the weird spelling errors and other seemingly random "bugs" in the quests.

this actually makes total sense, there are quests that are marked as not being able to be repeated and I would imagine the specific code for the quest scroll item is ignoring that fact when it's placing new ones...

also the vanishing city graphics is a known issue, we have people looking at it, thanks guys! :)
