I'm too busy for this!

I'm playing the new beta, and really enjoying it, but one thing that really doesn't make sense to me, and that I thought from the change log was improved, was finding an interesting quest location, and feeling like it's too tough for me now, but I would like to come back later, is still not possible.

I come across a dungeon, or whatever, and feel that it's a little too tough for me at the moment, and click on the 'I'm too busy for this.' button, and the damn thing disappears.  Where's the 'I'm too busy (or too weak,) for this, but I'd love to come back later' button.

This makes no sense to me from any prospective.  From game design, you just frustrated your player, from common sense, WTF?  Where did it go?

I really think that this should be changed such that clicking on the 'I'm too busy for this just keeps the goodie hut intact and unchanged.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Yes, it should be "Im too busy for this right now." or "Maybe later"

Or possibly, "I'll make a note of this, and come back later."

Question: How many quests that you accept immediately lead to an immediate battle after this dialogue?

I liek the "my army is medium, the quet is medium ok seems fine " fight loads, enemy casts a spell  - bang all my army dead .... yeah..."

Agree that the "I'm to busy for this" option should either be removed or be very clearly denoted and warned from (and if its kept ideally be given a warning window which you have to approve to really remove the quest)

A "come back later option" sounds like a mandatory feature these days. (hope the intended option of even a lost fight not removing the quest location / quest conclusion is made a reality either...)

Hope this part of the changelog soon gets realized... (part of the changelog, hence me not thinking this is intentional... So I'm sure the devs will fix it)

@ parrottmath: About 40-50% as a rough guess it whould seem to me (with the option to cancel the quest given at multiple points sadly...)

It depends on the quest. Some quest lallow you to return to a location later, some do not.

Poor soul says: "Sir, sir!  A giant spider is attacking our village!  We're being killed!"

You say: "I'll make a note of this and come back later."

It's not about the Giant spider attacking the village, it's about the dark cave mouth in the wilderness that just isn't there when you come back a day later.

Now this can be updated as a mod. Of course that would be a sick, sick, sick quest conclusion.

"You come back later to discover that the magical staff they offered for reward has been broken in half. But hey I got 300 gildar for my trouble."

I really hope quests become redoable, it might not be realistic, but will be much nicer to play through in the game, or hell just spawn new ones from time to time and let all the really difficult ones be gone for the first half of the game.

Sorry for detracting, there does need to be a way to redo quests.

Agreed entirely, in my current game while traveling I accidentally stopped a hero on a Deadly Quest. He wasn't in any condition to try the quest on his own and so of course it disappeared when I said I wasn't ready to do it. These sorts of things feel more like bugs than features (even if it is actually meant as a feature by Stardock).

I like the idea of every tile moved by a champion having a very small chance of triggering the generation of an appropriately leveled quest nearby.  A faction trait perhaps.

I agree that this is pretty stupid. They should really change this. For me I just avoid the quest areas because of this. Kinda kills the fun.

Agreed, I would like to come back too.

There is the wanderlust trait, which lets you buy quest maps in the store.  Plus it would be great if each hero in the game could occasionally spawn a quest for you:

Pasted from https://forums.elementalgame.com/405814

Heck, you could use such mechanisms to unlock whole new areas of a map or a unique recruitable unit(s) or even minor faction:

A hero tells you of a hidden pass that leads to a fertile valley and the land of his awesome mounted archers of unerring accuracy.  You then gain an opportunity to hire said units, trade for their bows or specially trained mounts, send a child to marry their ruler's offspring and seal them to you or even have it your forces are the tilting point that lets the exiled ruler (your hero NPC) retake his birthright and become a permanent vassal/ally.

These quests could make every phase of the game more exciting.  Some could be triggered as you meet certain factions:

"Watch yer back with them Umber scum... they turned on my former liege after signing a bloodtruce."  etc...

A lot of litter... um... I mean content, helps keep the sandbox fresh. :meow:

edit 2:  This is pasted from back in WOM days when there were still minor factions...
