Couple game interface issues I found annoying

new to Fallen Enchantress, (but not to Stardock games... I own an good number of them) very impressive for a beta, and as a game in general.  It'll keep me busy for awhile anyway.

playing the latest Beta.. .956 or something downloaded Sept 15th.

Couple interface things I noticed while playing... nothing serious or game killing just a couple minor pollish things I would consider.

1. Wierd blips during tactical battles... I saw someone already posted about arrows dissapearing and re-appearing at obique angles on some of the maps.  I also noticed on some maps wierd white blips that flash across the screen.  at first I though they were birds flying overhead but they moved to quickly and they were too big to be appropriate.  they moved too quickly for a screenshot.  (sorry)   They aren't functionally an issue but it looks like there's something funky with the code there. I also will admit it may be just my computer... I'm running an ASUS G73Gh series laptop with Windows 7 home, and a Q720 processor and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series.  Latest Drivers etc... etc.. etc...  anyway I do have a issue with Flash player that I can't figure out so....

2. The Tech Tree screen - there's no way to scroll around the teck tree... not a big issue as you can workaround by clicking on a technology and see others as the screen recenters on the selected tech but would it be too much to ask for a couple scroll bars?

3. trading units between armies.. I may have missed it but the only way I could figure was to individually remove an army from the stack and move it on to another army.  again minor but would be nice to be able to trade between stacks.

4. Quests.  most of the time I got a prompt or the like steering me onto the next part of a quest.  except for one. I needed to get two dragon eye's?  but there was no help finding where such dragons eye's might exist. I eventaually found one on a statue quest but never did find the other. BTW. LOVED the Dances with Dragons tech..  two possiblies.. I lost one of them when I was defeated on one of the sections.  or   and another annoying thing... when you decline or are defeated on a stage in the quest it fails???  I'd like the chance to come back and try again.

5. Empires get a little discontinuous. again that may be WAD, but it was a little absurd when some podunk little empire you have a non-agression with cause your trying to get a quest done comes and sticks an outpost in the middle of your empire blocking your access to a key resource or city.  I dont' have an issue with playing cold wars with outpost bombs (kinda found that to be fun) but there needs to be some sense to it... right now you can stick an outpost clear across the map with no direct access to your empire....  suggestion might be to have a Gal Civ (or even civilization for that matter) style conversion of remote/disconnected outposts/cities.

anyway thouraly enjoyed the game... will love to see the campaign and full game in the next couple months.  there were a few random CTD's but nothing consistant I could identify as the cause.  overall it was pretty stable.

thanks

Quoting Sierra,

You may click and drag, similar to maneuvering the adventure/strategic map.

Agreed.  Given that Fallen Enchantress has naturally evolved to share many mechanics with the Heroes of Might and Magic series, a lot of similar refinements to the user interface can be deduced from the improvements made to these games over the years as well.  Stardock please take note.

It has been my assumption that this is a bug.

This is not a bug, currently this is how it is programmed. It has been mentioned that quests can be redoable even if you die in the middle, but that has not been implemented, but it's possible to mod it for your convenience. I actually prefer the feature to fail the quest if I get defeated on any stage and the idea of encountering a quest and you decline the invitation, I look at it as a lost opportunity. But, this is a player preference and I think that depending on the quest a simple decline should not eliminate the quest, but others it only makes sense that they quest is gone if you say no.

I have run into a couple quests that don't ever seem to have a next step.  However, the Dragon Eye quest is specific victory condition.  On the map there are 3 or 4 (can't remember which) dragon statues.  Those are the markers that start a quest sequence.  At the conclusion of each Dragon Statue quest you get a Dragon's Eye.  They get more and more difficult.  Have a mage with area effect spells or it can really be difficult.

that was the problem.  I found one dragon statue that started the whole thing and needed 2 dragon eyes but there was only one other dragon statue that I found.  so little hard to get 2 dragon eyes with only 1 statue.
