NO$KEY

Unable to uninstall.

Three month ago i encountered some problems with FE. First i couldn't play it properly, then i couldn't un-/reinstall it anymore. I did try to fix it for a while, before i decided it wasn't worth the trouble. I was one of the unlucky ones with those missing graphics, and wouldn't be able to enjoy the game fully anyway.

Now, a couple of versions later, i'd like to try it again. Especially because i read, there might be a chance i could finally play it without those graphics missing. Still, the old problem remains: If i try to un-/reinstall the game, i get the error "Could not access network location no$key".

Advice would be appreciated.

Got it. More research, more yawning, and more trying finaly did it.

 

In case someone else is confronted with the same problems:

The misplaced-screen-issue was caused by a windowsoption for bigger text.

The no$key error could be solved by manualy deleting some registry-entry in regedit and install the game anew. (A simple uninstall still didn't work.)

Hey Naarf, if possible could you mention, if you remember, what specific registry entries need to be deleted? I am still getting the "Could Not access network location no$key" after deleting FE entries under stardock within current_user and machine.
