Tactical Battles - How do you pass without clicking the button...

In tactical battles if I move a unit, it won't move to the next until until I click the PASS button...  There must be another way.  When watching some Let's play videos it appears that they never click these buttons...

If a unit has an ability or item at the bottom it won't automatically end the turn. If the unit has no abilities, no spells, etc. then it will automatically end their turn.
