[Suggestion] Lair spawn out of player's ZOC

To give the feeling of a living and feral world, I suggest to implement a lair spawn outside ZOC (with a minimum distance to other lair and of strengh related to season and distance from players border) like barbarian in CiV, in fog of war areas.

This will give more PvE to the players who like the rpg part of the game and more uncertainty about what you can find in a not controlled zone.

It would have to be implemented in a way so the player doesn't feel the need to cover every single tile with an outpost.

Yes, maybe with a little maintenance fee for outpost... (it will prevent outpost spam too)

Just make some monsters go for the outposts instead, so you have to stand ready and defend all the borders.

Suggestion:  Try setting monsters to 'dense' in the startup options and see if you like it.

I already always had monster to dense, but the problem is: you have more monster in the beginning, the suggestion is about monster spawning during the game, not at start.

I'd like to see monster lairs spawning sparodically a certain distance from ZOC.  I luke haveing a non-aligned player (monsters) giving me hell throughout the game :)

NB/  I also play on dense monsters all the time :D

I think his point is that some people don't like it, and that an option for this is better than something presented after the fact as a given.

 

Personally, I have no problem with the idea of lair spawns outside the ZOCs, but it would have to be handled very carefully to seem realistic, and not as a means of throwing various ways of sapping resources from the player.  If it worked correctly, it would be a nice addition to the game, in my opinion.  If done poorly, it would only draw attention away from roleplaying, and to coded conditions.

I like this idea and I think that this would be a good opporutunity for one of those random events.

Untamed Lands: The untamed lands seem a little less tame of late. Spawns several monster lairs.

THink about it, if Lairs spawned some monsters, players (A.I. included) would be less likely to build a city/outpost on top of a lair unless they cleared it first.
