Make city stats visible when chosing level upgrades

This has been an issue for some time, but it is an even greater issue now that your choice of city type shapes the purpose of the city for the rest of the game.  When a city levels up, you are asked to choose first a city type, then later, city improvements.  But which one would be best for that city depends on the stats of the city.  Fortresses work well with production, Towns with food, Conclaves with essence.  But does my city that just leveled up have any essence?  I forget.  This city improvement reduces unrest.  Does this city have any unrest?  I don't know.  I don't have the information to make an informed decision.  If you could at least access the city details window from the city level up window, you could check.

I agree that the player does not have the information to make an informed decision when choosing city level upgrades.

Maybe expand the UI a bit to include your current Grain, Materials, and Essence for starters. Maybe research and unrest too.

It's been somethign wished for since EWOM development. It would be nice if you could just click on the city portrait for the prompt that pops up at level up, to bring up the city details screen.

A lot of people simply name the city to give an indicator to the intended upgrade path. At leas that's what I do if I have a lot of cities.

Said many times before, but it bears repeating, so agreed :D

Here's to hoping one day I no longer have to name cities "Sprocketon", "Bookopolis", or "Gildarville" to know what they're supposed to do :)

I've resorted to rename using a (T) (C) or (F) along with the name, also appending something like 4-2-2   (Grain-Materials-Essence)  but I really shouldn't have to.

It gets me thru it for now.  But it still leaves you clueless about some upgrades.  Also if your city say gets a farm or clay tile those numbers are going to be off..

Meh.

There is a reason this request comes up so often.

I'd like to add one more for this request.

Oh, consider me agreeing. This simply needs to happen

There's a lot of these little things that need to happen. I and others have been posting threads about them since WOM. They would seem to be obvious gameplay/UI fixes. They get large numbers of people agreeing. And yet after 1-2 years, still no action. It gets frustrating.

Hopefully this is what Frogboy means when he says that Beta 5 will be all about bug fixes and improving usability...

Yes please, this is badly needed. Either that, or make the pop-up not require immediate action so we can minimize it and choose later.

Instead of it coming like this, as a popup and instant advancement, make the selection available as buildable improvement with a log entry "x has become a settlement and can now grow". It allows you to look around, make educated decicions and doesn't require anything new for the UI.

Sign me up for the petition. Whatever way it's accomplished, we need more information for the level-up decisions.

/signed. Has to be done before gold. No doubt.

I think this has probably reached the level of my biggest single UI gripe with the game. Got to be sorted out.

I also am totally pissed of that this HAS NOT HAPPENED since WOM beta 2, let alone fe beta 2, and like the rest of us posters, I think it is the single BIGGEST weakness and item preventing a excelent rating/epic game rating to the game.

I say no. And here are my reasons:

1) I like to be completly ignorant of what my city produces.

2) I like to just randomly pick an upgrade without knowing what it will do with the rest of the city.

3) I hate information about anything

4) If they did add this basic feature that just about all 4X games have had for years then it would be a cheap copy and not original.

PS:  I was joking. Of Coarse this should be in the game. It should have been in from the get go (no brainer here)

Yes, this is needed and i´m sure before the release it will be in and we will read another comment from frogboy like this one...

You know, you complain, you whine and you never think it's going to happen and then one day, you check out the code and there it is.

Adding my name to the list!

I've resorted to renaming my cities and adding a T, C, or F just so I know how to level up my cities.
