FE .95 Bug Report

Hi All,

I just finished a large map scenario of FE version .95.  While I encountered a number of bugs playing with a custom sovereign I really enjoyed the game and the direction of development especially as compared to the original Elemental.

The Bugs:

Quests were not unlocked when I researched the appropriate items on the magic tree.  This happened for both level 7 and level 9 quests.  I was able to recruit heroes.  In the Kingdom Report section of the UI it says "Can Recruit Level 9 Champions Can Start Basic Quests"

The swamp is on the map.  (I can't find the name of the swamp anywhere in game)  The quest description says 'Clear the scarred tiles to heal this diseased land.'  I have cleared all of the tiles, but I can't get the quest to complete.  It appears to be bugged.

The Imperium has also spawned on my map.  The directions say to build a city in the Imperium to complete the quest.  The are no buildable tiles in the Imperium, as such I am unable to complete the quest.

Some bugs I haven't been able to reproduce reliably:

The game occasionally slows way down in both the strategic and tactical portion of the game.

Occasionally the territory designation lines disappear for all factions.

The life magic spell Growth makes my non-sovereign champions shrink though they still get the Growth bonuses.

Finally I've noticed one balance issue on all of the maps I've played.  The early game is a blitzkrieg for cities.  The AI churns out tons of Pioneers and gobbles up buildable zones rapidly.  The player has to keep pace or be swept away fairly early in the game.  This happens on all of the difficultly settings I've tried.

I am a Business Analyst by trade and develop use cases and test cases for business systems.  I try not to let that bleed over into gaming, but it happens.  If I've left anything out that might be helpful from a development perspective don't hesitate to ask.  I am looking forward to a great final product.

Thanks for the early opportunity to play.

Ray

Imperium has always been a problem.  Never worked for me.  Old posts for prior versions say to raze any nearby cities to bypass the limit on how close cities can be.   Can't personally confirm that.

I also encountered your first bug where I could not do higher level quests.   Under 0.95 all quests are supposed to be available at the beginning and you decide when you are ready to try then based on their difficulty rating (weak, string, epic etc).   You no longer need to research the quest levels.   I found out the reason why my quests were broken was because I was using a custom faction\sov I had created in a version previous to 0.95.   Once I created a new custom faction\sov under 0.95 my quests were all available from the beginning as they should be.   I have also encountered many of your other issues.   The AI spamming pioneers is a big issue in my mind and has been discussed at length by many on the forum.   Hopefully one of the suggestions others have made regarding implementing some sort of limit to the number of cities you can found (based on prestige or sov level have been suggested amongst) will be added or maybe just a change to how the AI determines if it is wise to found another city.   Fingers crossed.
