unit skills

There are some ways the game could take away some of its free form utility in order to give better choices to players. One thing that's been bothering me is the three slots for unit skills.

I'd like to suggest that these three skills be divided into 1 faction skill, 1 defensive skill and 1 offensive skill

or 1 faction skill, 1 defensive or offensive skill and 1 utility skill.

this way every faction could have acces to a unique list of skills as well as a basic pool of skills for everyone.

I don't like being limited like this, I really like to be able to create either very defensive units, or very offensive units, and having unique traits for each faction is a good idea, and would be nice to do in some extent (2-3 per faction), but remember each trait that is limited to a faction only will be taken away from the public pool, I recommend making a couple of backgrounds and faction traits that also open up for some unit traits to open up new options.

I don't want to change the public pool that much, but as it is, personally i end up using the same few traits in unit construction and i find it quite dull.

+ 20 capacity

+10 capacity +1 attack

+2 initiave

on ocaasion i put in charge.

other than that, it's all kinda meh

sure you can build a tank with +1 hp pr level plus the armour boosting traits, but... meh

i just don't find very many possiblities to be worthwhile atm. I think each trait should have value and mean something I want a reason to use that trait i never look twice at.

note that for my mages i use dodge instead of capacity

also, i find that if there is something about the idea that makes you twitch because you find it limiting, then your onto something that gives the idea value and you should think about why you don't like it.

lol what?

I don't like it because it would stop me from doing multiple builds, in a build like this I would find the best 3 perks and use those.
Because I do use more than those 3 mentioned (I actually rarely use the +2 init, and the +20 encumb).
