Unofficial Poll: Have you been able to finish a game completely in Beta 4?

Unofficial Poll: Have you been able to finish a game completely in Beta 4?

Frogboy or the devs can edit this if they want, but I thought mastroego's question was a good one.

Have you been able to get through at least one full game without game-ending crashes, bugs or save corruption?  If so what map size and other game characteristics?

Nope! I had a great game going then... save corruption! other games were quickly turned into the AI's favor as large roaming slags like to gobble my citizens. Or just placed with factions on all four sides of me.

Certainly this Beta is far more buggy and, frankly, even slower than Beta 3, which makes the game unbearably slow on my PC in the mid game.  It seems to crash more often than not, when entering battles or even between turns, if there are a lot of AI players.

Have I finished a game?

No, and I don't really expect to, as even on the small map, it is bugging out.

I have been unable to complete a single game due explicitly to 100% (so far) save corruption.

I have had one game that I was able to reload which then corrupted on the next save.

I'm not playing FE any more until this is fixed, as I'm tired of taking the time to find passable starting locations and solidify a good start to lose the work to corrupted saves.

I had three CTDs, but I've been playing quite a bit.  As I save a lot, they didn't prevent me from finishing any of my games.

Not even close here.

I've played at least 5 games from the start until unavoidable crash (and savefiles also keep crashing), mostly on large maps, but i've also tried medium with the same result. Not tried small maps yet.

Yeah, the game is a bit of a cluster pudding at the moment.  I hope they get things fixed soon.

Seems to me this save corruption & crashing bug is the biggest problem with FE at this point. I never had this problem with the earlier betas, but try 1 game of beta 4 and there it is. I've already reported the issue myself along with the corrupted save game file and crash dump:

I'm really hoping this gets fixed with beta 5. As awesome as FE is (and it's fast becoming my all-time favorite TBS game), the game will be dead on arrival if it gets released with this bug still in it. I really really really hope that doesn't happen, because FE deserves a chance to shine. Please, Stardock, making fixing this your number one priority!

Yes, we want the monkey to sing on a banjo for the frog! |-) :frogboy:  (And no, I'm not sure whether it is in fact a monkey and what's being played is a banjo - probably a guitar at second thought - but banjo sounds cool so I'll leave that in. :P)

PS: Since I thought mastroego's question was a good one I decided to be proactive and ask it.  Hopefully a lot of positive stuff will come from the seed of this goodwill. =)

Not yet.  In the one game I played, I had a weird form of save corruption where you could load and play the game fine, but attempting to make a new save invariably resulted in a crash.

@StevenAus: it is in fact a monkey, but make what you will of the musical instrument. And I'd happily sing for the frog if that's what it would take to bump this issue to the top of their bug list. :-)

End of Tohron's quote

I think that's actually the garden variety form of save corruption.

Yes.

Large map, 5 AI opponents, all victory options. Won by casting spell. Along the way had numerous crashes to desktop, but not so many that I got fed up.
