One game that I played I had access to an improvement for +1 essence. It was great but most games I don't have it. Anyone know what race or what gave me access to it?

There is the Oracle building, available as a level-up choice on city level 3 in a conclave.
There is also a Scrying Pool, available for the Pariden faction or any custom faction with the Enchanters bonus.
Right, I had the enchanters bonus on my custom faction. It felt very good to be able to increase my essence. Thanks.
Not sure if the enchanters bonus is very clear on the tooltip. Not sure if that is the one with the tooltip that is too short so you can't read it all.

I'm kinda feeling jipped that Pariden is the only race that can get the +1 essence scrying pool. This game is about magic....would be nice if the other races could eventually get it aswell....
or
Pariden's scrying pools grant +2 essence....everybody elses only grant +1 bonus. This would work really nice too...
If you want Essence, you need to settle near magical things. Given how powerful it is, it should not be handed out at a whim. I don't think it should even be given with Oracle. Pariden, on the other hand, is weak except for this building. I would love to see each faction get a unique building to accentuate their personality.
In my current game, only my captial has access to essence, and it's not built near a magical thing. Other cities are built by magical things and don't have access to essence.
I understand that essence is important, and thus should be considered 'rare'. However, this is a game about magic. Kinda sucks if you have an empire without essence.
Maybe for the other races, the scrying pool can be built, but needs a later tech to do it?
Still like the idea of Pariden just getting a bigger essence bonus so as to not restrict essence completely from other races...
I think it's fine as it is now. It certainly isn't restricted completely from other races. Some cities just have a better magical surrounding and can be shaped differently. That's a brilliant idea for the game.
I find it hard to find what pariden have, besides +1 essence, so I agree with this.
The building is extremely strong, and I get that people want to "play" with this new feature, but essence is not important if grain/material is really good.
That said, I like the flavour of essence, and Pariden is probably be one of the "few" races ill be playing due to the awesome feel of the +1 essence building.
