[.952 Bug] Headless Animations (Equipmentless Characters)

I have noticed a headless / undergarments bug on the custom sovereigns.

I have been able to reproduce this effect on my computer, I hope others would check to see if it something with my rig (Alienware M14 Laptop, geForce 555m vid card, win 7 64bit). Here is the debug.err file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/75549875/debug.err

First have a custom sovereign made. Load a game. Go back to main menu. Start a new game. Notice headless custom sovereigns.

You may still create new sovereigns and they will have their head, but the already created sovereigns have no head on them.

Still present in .951, I've even turned off anti-aliasing per a suggestion by frogboy in "high priority bugs" thread. Am I the only one experiencing this bug or can others reproduce it?

Steps to reproduce:

- Have an already created custom sovereign

- Have a saved game that you can load

-Load the saved game

-Main menu and then start a new game.

-clothless sovereigns

If you play the game, the unit does not update. A simple fix is to restart the program.

In that case it looks like the game is simply not loading the equipment. I don't know why exactly, but heads are considered equipment in this game. So this could also be a memory leak.

This bug is still present in .952 and I did a little investigation to see if the game plays with this view. It is worse than I expected, the game doesn't think that the sovereign has ANY equipment in the inventory or any of the abilities that I have chosen for the soveriegn. The other pre-made characters have their animations and equipment all intact.

I can reproduce this error everytime on my computer following the steps I have described. Not sure if anyone else can reproduce this error though. If there is anything else you need from me to resolve this issue please let me know.

Seen it once, with anti aliasing turned on on my own laptop, didn't try the steps exactly, not sure I understand them either though, create a sovereign, then load a different game? oh well...

It doesn't matter what save game you load.

If you load any saved game, then try to start a new game this happens to all of my custom sovereigns. I don't think its graphical since the sovereigns don't have any equipment or abilities.

I just followed the steps and had perfect sovereigns. (creating a quick custom sovereign, go back loading a saved game, go back to main menu click start game, perfect sovereigns).

Edit: Its the same if I just Start a new game, and then go back to main menu (Not creating a custom sovereign though).

Thanks Kongdej. Then it's something with my rig, I'll see if I can get this sorted and send a solution.

For clarity, the game is not yet designed to shut down one game and either start or load another. There are apparently some functions that have to do with the beta preventing this. You must always reboot before starting another game. This is technically a bug, but not something they are going to fix until after beta 5.

Thanks seanw3,

I'll wait for beta 5 before I point it out again.

I have found a solution to my problem.

It appears that when I looked under (documents/my games/fallen enchantress/units) there were a lot of old units that I have deleted from previous games. Once I removed those extra units, I can see my units without any problems. FYI I had something of about 20+ units in the folder. Mind you I only had 3 that I currently created and was playing (all from .952 build).

I'll just have to do regular maintenance of that folder to keep this error from occuring again.

Thanks seanw3 and kongdej for your input.

It seems that when you add a lot of custom units, one can reproduce the effects that I have described using the sequence I have described.

I created 20+ custom sovereigns.

Loaded a saved game.

went to the main menu.

started a new game.

The first few custom sovereigns have their equipment and stats, but the later sovereigns do not have their equipment on them.

Hope that this info helps the devs fix this bug.

Arh that explains why I did not see it again, after each beta I sweep the "My Documents" folders off old weird files.

The problem is Kongdej I can reproduce it without the old files. There is something about an excessive amount of custom sovereigns that the game doesn't like. I'm sure they will fix this up in beta 5 though.

Yea, I understand, I think I can reproduce it too if I design a lot of custom units, (I see the problem, but only sometimes). But as I was testing just before, I had recently sweeped my FE folder in documents from stuff I designed in the earlier beta's, so there was only 2-3 custom units in there.

I have just 14 units in my folder and I still get this.  I get it for regular custom units too, not just sovereigns.
