[Beta 4] Obligatory thread: Beta 4 ETA?

Howdy Stardock!

 

If I remember correctly, the tentative beta 4 release date was August 16th. However, I know that software development, like most projects in life, can take a little longer than expected. Therefore, I am wondering: is this still the planned release date, or is it a bit too optimistic?

I must say I'm excited by the beta 4 feature list; another thing that got me excited is the AAR from Brad, and in particular the part where he got crushed by what seemed to be a decently composed AI army - is it me, or has the AI learned to make a metaphorical "pointy spear"?

Also, a rumor came to my ear that ZoC trespassers would be kicked back into the nearest town of their empires instead of being teleported to the border - sometimes on the wrong side. If that's the case - that's great news!

 

Anyway, I'm really excited about this new beta and I can't wait to see it! I know that an ETA won't make it come faster... but is there a rough tentative-maybe-perhaps-ifthestarsareright-ETA?

You have to use reverse psychology, tell them not to release beta 4 until next Christmas, and then they will force it upon us.

Very nice way to ask what a lot of us want to know. Very much hoping for a release on the 16th as I've got just the time to play that evening.

still waiting intently so them updating with a new answer wouldnt bother me, if they would re-state the same answer it would just be like "Oh, its going somewhere around according to plan"...

Still... My "Elemental Feeling" been dazzling down of late due to no new stuff happening, so hope the beta can relit the fire.

Yes, I didn't pull the 08/16 date out of a hat, I've read the thread you've linked... and it's an old one. Things change. Every development cycle has its unforseen complications, its issues, its delays. Hence my question: is the tentative beta 4 release date given in that thread still relevant?

I wasn't using that phrasing for you, Werewindlefr.  It was for the people who are reading (and sometimes commenting) that just want to whine to get another beta early.

 

And then will complain loudly once it arrives that the beta is buggy.  And demand that Something be done about it, with another beta, that should have been here yesterday.

My Magic 8 Ball told me that Beta 4 would be released sometime between now and December 31st. 

I have a really good feeling about that prediction.

In fact, if you go off and fiddle around with some other game for a while, I bet you'd find that before you know it, presto!  Beta 4 will be here!

And honestly, if you don't want to believe my Magic 8 Ball, then there really is little else I can do for you at this time.

The latest we have from Brad is that it "should" be out this Thursday Stardock time.  If it doesn't come out then, it will come out some period of time after. =)
