[.915] Lots of good, but kind of unplayable

I really like the direction that [.915] is taking us, but the existing bugs in this version of the game are really critical ones.  When coming across a bug in [.915] they render the game unplayable.  An example, I defeated Queen Persephone (or whatever her name is) in a battle.  Now when I try to buy a horse from the vendor it also rewards me her crown and goes into a replication loop.  The purchased Horse cannot be equipped and the game eventually flakes out in short order.

The opposing players have no issue with Monster AI.  They're stacking up all these outposts and cities on top of monster lairs with no hint of trouble. I spend the first 1/3 of my game building up heroes to flush monster lairs out of my kingdom so that real growth can occur.  By that time the computer players are 5x-10x further in advancement, which basically feels like a cheat.

I loved Elemental and played it a lot, just downloaded FE Beta to give it a try. I've been having the same issues the OP mentions. It seems that the level of the monsters near my starting town is just too high. We're quite restricted on where we can place new towns now, and in most playthroughs I've done the nearest expansion slot is surrounded by medium and strong ranked monsters who will swoop in and maul any expansion town or outpost I have. I've got militia and spearmen taking on some pretty high level baddies early on in the game. I'll encounter another faction, and they'll have 3-5 towns, where I'm struggling to defend two. I don't remember this issue with Elemental ... then again, it's been a while

By the way things are progressing it's way to soon to consider the game to be even close to being playable, they are still experimenting with game mechanics, so many details are going to get over looked. I've learn over the years to be patience, this is my number 1 game that I'm looking forward to, that being said I've given myself a time out when it comes to the progression of this game. My attitude is take a long as it takes to make the game right. I'm not expecting this to be fully playable for another 2 maybe even 3 years. For me playable would mean the final release plus all of the patches applied afterward. So sit back relax & enjoy the ride i believe we have a ways to go but it'll be worth the wait.

Derek, Frogboy and Co., there are some good ideas here. :)  Hey you could rename Stardock that!  Lots of people would LOVE a name like Derek, Frogboy and Co. (obviously not including me :P)  Or should that be Frogboy, Derek and Co.? ;)

NOTE: Just in case you can't detect that very faint note of sarcasm, I am not serious.  Or am I?  No, no, no, Stardock is fine! (though they don't just make Space games and Space-managing applications now ;))

Then again, Stardock is kinda cool name for an applications and games company. |-) :sun:   Reach for the stars and all that. ;)

1) Back to my point about creatures - I honestly can't recall how Elemental did it, but it was done well I think. I believe all of the creatures near your starting location - and even possible expansion locations - we all fairly low level. They came at you, but you could handle it with low tech and low levels. High level creatures should really only either be placed far far away from the starting points, and/or they don't even move until you reach a certain level

2) The Weakness "Cruel" and Talent "Natural Leader" should be mutually exclusive. You're basically getting a free +1 to attack with reduced champion recruitment fee

3) I REALLY wish I was able to view the spellbook from the main menu, before (or during) Sovereign creation.

4) Arcane Monoliths are a bit much - it almost makes Enchanters + Attunement a requirement for a faction/sovereign. If monolith-like expansions could be built by other means (non magic and resources), that might balance it out a little bit. Or maybe they CAN be, and I just haven't figured it out yet?

5) Tangentially related to 4, when making a new Faction, the Enchanters Strength description isn't fully visible - it says, " ... tomes which allow the reader to learn Air, Earth, Fi..." and that's it. It actually took me a few playthroughs to realize Arcane Monoliths are exclusive to Enchanters. Strengths like Legacy of Serrane and Slave Lord have lengthy descriptions which fit in the box. A minor issue

Some really good ideas here, don't be afraid to post them up on a seperate thread so its easier to comment on each idea seperately etc. (and not to derail other said posts :D)
