Hi,
I got twice the reward from quests, before the actual battle, that I failed by the way... Seems weird that it never happened to anybody else?
I've had quest battles where I got the item reward at the beginning of the battle... but I won the battles. I was too afraid to try equipping it immediatley and to see if I can use a shiny new sword or something in the battle.
Hmm had some strange quests resolve in my face, with unexpected sudden combats with no dialogue attached to them, so I would just wish for a proper way to "complain" about these things 
.
Can't say I would know what happened to you though, not a lot of explanation here 
(With complain I mean I want a way, proper way, I feel comfortable about, that I can communicate to the support team what quest the bug happened, in what sequence, and all the other bits).

Yeah, this happened recently on the cloak of stars quest which involves killing ophidians, and then a dragon. I lost the battle to the ophidians but the quest proceeded regardless and the dragon encounter was spawned. Have had others but can't quite remember which, will keep a lookout for future instances.
The one where you first defeat a troll on the quest location, then you get the reward when moving on the quest location, then a fight is triggered against the tough bandit, bear, Ritualist (or whatever they are called) and the guy who heals himself with poison damage all the time, you get the reward just for visiting the quest location, even if you lose the spawned battle.
