Resource destoyed notification

I know this has been brought up before, but was playing this morning and got constant reminders of this issue.

Please give us some indication of what resource has been destroyed with this notification.

Can it be tied to the notifications in the right column? That seems like the best place for it, alongside all the other notifications.

Any dev feedback on this would be greatly appreciated, one way or the other.

Thanks!

And just as importantly, WHERE it's been destroyed!  This is the most time consuming micromanagement problem in the game and it also drives me crazy.

yes ;)
I would like to put my public vote on listening to this thread, as these notifications lacks... information.

Yeah, you don't know whether southwest means southwest of your explored territory, or southwest of the map.  And anyway, a general direction doesn't help when you have huge numbers of outposts. ;-)

Not that I don't agree with everyone, because I do, but to be the devils advocate:

Shouldn't you be managing your outposts? Isn't finding them part of the challenge of the game?

(don't flame me, I agree with you, i'm just being the opposing view here :) )

It's not just outposts. It's with everything. Resources, outposts, cities.

There are messages that something has happened, but without telling me what and where and 'Would you like to GO TO?", then telling me that there is a problem is useless.

This is actually the one bug that has stopped me from playing this game in many weeks.  It is way too frustrating trying to look for things that have been destroyed (which happened to me a lot using Master Scout outpost/city spamming).

When I originally typed WHAT I meant to type WHERE, so I'm with you!

Removing the repeated messages would help too. If a stack of units moves at same time to the square you get a message for each army in the stack for destroying the same resource.

Either showing a location of where it was destroyed, similar to a monster in territory message would be best. Especially since if it was an outpost destroyed then a message for an undeveloped resource in your territory would be useless, since it is no longer in your territory.

While your at it, fixed the losing resources during our turn. Tired of fighting an AI unit close to a resource and losing it anyways because the death animation places the unit in the tile and destroys it during my turn.

It would be such a huge relief to get an action-needed icon that I could click on to center the map on the spot (like units built and building improvements).

This has been driving everyone crazy since E:WoM days.  The most charitable spin I can put on the failure to fix it yet is that they are focusing on the areas where they need more user feedback to tweak the features -- the non-controversial / unanimous "delight" enhancements might come at the end of the beta, or maybe even not till the official release version...

... but if they are trying to make a good game as they go, its LONG past time to fix this.

If you could click on the notification and go to the site it would be helpful

Yes, this needs to be improved. Someone suggested adding options to the alerts which would allow you to go the site of the event or to ignore them.

Additionally if such options are implemented, I'd appreciate it if the alert didn't disappear forever as soon as you press on them, but to have a "history/memory" of these events so that you can be taken to where they occurred in the past in order to better manage them in the game. Sometimes you can't look at it immediately but will want to return to it later on that same season or on a following season.

Agree Completely with the consensus that has emerged among the first 13 respondents to this Discussion thread.  So I have nothing to add ... except my vote/voice:

Please fix/correct/improve this broken feature in the next update to the game !  Don't wait until the end.  (Sometimes it takes a "squeeky wheel" to the get the darn contraption properly oiled ...      )

The problem is scanning every outpost, every single turn.  On a large map, where the human player has to spam outposts just to keep a parity with the AI, that isn't exactly a lot of fun.

I'd also like to suggest that if I have a unit stationed to guard an outpost, it only makes sense that I'm notified when an enemy comes within reasonable range of it.  That range being the size of the outpost's reach.  If they're not going to truly guard and take action as needed, why do we call it that?

Adding to the frustration, I've got a huge line of outposts surrounding my cities to act as a 'warning buffer' except that they DON"T act as a warning buffer. All of a sudden, force X is attacking one of my cities....no warning that they've entered my territory...no warning that they're using my roads at warp speed...no warning that they're approaching my city....and bam...city is taken. >_>   Not cool...

I have to agree.   Definitely need the ability to see where the resource was.

This is possible? Hilarious!

And yes, i fully agree, this notification always needed and still needs work.

I agree both with the idea of the notification needed an upgrade, and that stuff happening in the middle of my turn is very annoying.

This definitely needs to be fixed. Nothing in the game is more annoying right now than these useless notifications. You might as well have a pop-up that says "something in your empire has been destroyed... somewhere." It would do about as much good. I hope resolving this has made its way onto the To Do list for beta 5.
