[.915 Bug] Ranged attacks coming from the side of the screen

Not sure if this has been reported before.

During tactical battles, sometimes ranged attacks like arrows or fireballs from mages will not originate from the shooter, but will originate from the side of the screen and hit the target, doing damage as normal.  However, it's not consistent.  It will happen a number of times in a battle though.

I have only seen this with my troops.  This hasn't happened with enemy arrows as far as I can tell.

It used to be consistent a few versions ago.  Progress ?

I have had it happen with enemy arrows, throwing knifes, AND spells, but only some times it works, and other times it does the attack from the side

I dunno, they made archery even worse since those versions, so I never build archers anymore ^_^

You are halfway correct, it used to be consistent with magical attacks from staves. (on my computer anyways)

It seems to have something to do with multiple units firing things, and seems to not happen until it does, at which point it is consistent.

It may be related to the really strange graphical slowdown bug.

More testing is needed to isolate.

It nearly always proceeds or follows graphical slowdown for me, and it happens alot not every shot the archer takes, but if I have archers I'll probably see it in each battle

Speaking as a programmer, I would guess that the bug is related with scrolling, and with units being far from each other.  Why?  Because it looks as if the origin-of-shot variable is improperly initialized, and the shot comes from 0,0

I've actually seen this with Lady Irane and a champion with a magic staff, in addition to my normal troops.

My origin of shot variable was set to Sailor Jerry until I had a really bad night a few years ago.
